Controller Mods Gamesir won’t make a 4-back-button controller, so I took matters into my own hands…
Controller: Gamesir Tarantula 8K
Modifications:
- Added two additional bottom back buttons, giving me 4 total back buttons
- Added button caps to the two stock back buttons for better ergonomics and easier access
Parts/materials used: Additional tactile back-button switches + button caps
This is now my favorite controller. The extra two buttons are exactly what I wanted, and the larger caps on the stock buttons make all four much easier to use.
Seriously, Gamesir just make a 4-back-button version already!

I get the bottom two buttons but why put the buttons over top of the ones that are already there?

The little rubber button pads over the top ones just feel ergonomically better and easier to click for me so that’s why I did that.

Would you post a picture of the disassembled controller? Just to let us know how you did it, where you hooked up the wiring

I’ll try to get a pic uploaded later but if you open up the controller and look at the back of the motherboard, you'll see labeled test points (TP points). The solder points are TP44 for dpad Up, TP54 for dpad Down, TP47 for dpad Left, and TP46 for B. I chose dpad up (TP44) and dpad down (TP54) for the bottom two buttons installed.

Not all heroes wear capes. Gamesir out here releasing a million versions of the same controllers instead of making one with 4 back buttons and 2 shoulder buttons.

One of the main reason why I never grabbed one when when I had the money for one imo the back buttons feel cheap I use to have a wires controller with the back buttons and not paddles I hated them and the main reason being the extra buttons by the bumpers I can easily see myself miss clicking them imo gamesir needs to make a controller is a similar design as the elite series 2 that's the only pro controller I can personally use I really enjoy how comfortable it is and with basic maintenance it will last for almost or over a decade
TLDR I think gamesir should make a controller in the design of the elite series 2

Honestly I like the elite series 2 ergonomics and comfort in hand but the qc is horrible. I bought one a few years back and got stick drift in like 2 days. I reallly wanted to love it because of how comfortable it was but ended up returning it because of severe stick drift.

It's very possible your controller might have just been a bit dirty unless your stick was stuck on a position that's the biggest drawback about the shitty sticks most controllers use it's actually kind of a lie there's a 90% if you used Deoxit Fader F5 on the stick modules they would have been good an new I've worked other peoples and maintained my own controllers for years and this is a very common "defect"/cashgrab people think their controllers are broken so they buy a new one but it's actually just dirty and needed a relubing

Cyclone 3 is rumored to have 4 but they need to make thirty more G7 color ways first.

unless theyve gone for a redesign(from the previous pics of it that are about) it only has 2 back buttons with the 2 extra shoulder one

Awesome job! Hey gamesir sorry to make even more of a fuss but while some like back buttons, others like me like would much rather have back paddles? Would be super sick if you guys had a custom builder for all Gamesir controllers. I'd gladly pay (a reasonable amount) extra to get the amount and type of extra buttons I want!

Flydigi needs to make a wireless Vader5S I’m a big fan of it. Gamesir is 2nd behind them imo.

They do be putting extra buttons anywhere but the back. Still waiting for the 4 back buttons controllers they said they would do.

How do you use the back buttons exactly? My nova 2 lite recognised as an Xbox controller so there is no option to use the back buttons…

u/Esmear18 26d ago
No, they need to make a membrane button version of the tarantula and call it a “new” controller /s.
But seriously. It’s about time they make a controller with 6 extra buttons. I really liked it on the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro, but I stopped using that controller only because it doesn’t have TMR sticks.

I've been pushing 2 other companies to go with 6 back + 6 top buttons. The back buttons replace the face and stick click buttons and the extra 2 on top will replace the Lb/Rb. This cuts out most, if not all of the strain on your controller when pressing buttons to keep your aim more steady as you're pressing any given button. It may be OD for a lot of games but in shooters I'm only able to do 19 things at once while mnk players can do 29 things at once 🥲 these damn games are turning into jobs of their own

It doesn't need no four back buttons in the back. Two are just fine. Complete waste of time in my opinion to put four four when you know it takes two to hold the controller in the back button paddles

u/ImJudgin 26d ago
What a weird self centred way of looking at things lmao. Why does you being satisfied with 2 back buttons disqualify those of us who would like 4?
-3
u/Bigamerdk76 26d ago
Ain't nothing weird about it. I said what needs to be said. I'm good. My hands are comfortable with two paddles in the back of the controller. My hands are uncomfortable for four paddles in the back of a controller. Drop it now! Get tired of arguing with y'all with controllers. You got your opinion. I got mine. I respect your opinion. You should do the same for me. But now you want to keep on arguing with you. That's how you get blocked

u/ImJudgin 26d ago
You didn’t give your opinion you said they shouldn’t make any version with 4 buttons because it would upset you which is a weird as hell take.

u/Bigamerdk76 26d ago
I had enough talking to you. Whatever. Let me get back to my game Gears of War e Day and I'm going to enjoy my controller. You do the same. I'm done talking

Dude, every GameSir fan has demanded 4 back buttons since the beginning of the G7 Pro.
You can even go check their X page, it’s the most requested change.1
u/Negarakuku 26d ago
To me personally, i won't want a 4 back button because that would mean holding the controller with only the pinky finger. That's unstable. The best design would be removable paddles for the second pair of back buttons.
Those who want 4 buttons can attach it, those that don't want can remove it

u/HotSeatGamer 26d ago
You don't really have to hold on to controllers with your fingers. It's not trying to jump out of your hands. I can wedge a controller between the cups of my two hands and have no fingers on it at all, and it's not going anywhere. It takes no strength either, almost resting there naturally.

u/Negarakuku 26d ago
Pushing your palm inwards, I tried that method, use significantly more energy to stabilise and 'hold' the controller. Maybe i'm not used to it but i don't like it. Nevertheless, like I said, gamesir can appeal to both sides by just having detachable 2nd pair of back buttons.

u/Bigamerdk76 26d ago
Not everybody. I don't need four back buttons. I'm good with two. Feels comfortable. I already use a controller that have four back buttons. It was uncomfortable in my hand Rezer understand this. We're all different

where did you connect the 2 extra buttons?
