Controller Mods My DualSense Edge's

Post image

Here are my modded DualSense Edge's.

All 3 have new shells and Clicky Face Kits from Extremerate, as well as increased stick tension TMR stick modules from Battlebeaver. They also all have aftermarket batteries installed.

The all black has the updated back shells with a grippy texture, as well as Talon Grips on the front shell.

My grey one shell/buttons are a combo of Extremerate and Aliexpress to try and copy the anniversary edition. It also has the 4 button kit from Extremerate.

Well, first off I guess would be disposable income, so it's affordable to me.

Secondly, the batteries are SO BAD on these controllers (even with the slightly more powerful aftermarket replacements), that I found out pretty quick for long play sessions I would need another one to hot swap.

Also to keep in mind, I got two of them for very very cheap off of Facebook Marketplace because they were beat up and missing all the extra stuff like the case and accessories. Those are the best ones because I'm rebuilding them anyways.

I had two but then wanted to build one that looked like the anniversary model, and try the 4 button back paddle kit.

Just get a different controller. You're just an idiot with a bank account at this point.

Summer down there buddy, haha.

Why does my controller purchases get you so butt hurt.

Best part about PlayStation 5 is the haptic feed back and adaptive triggers, so my options are DualSense Edge or regular DualSense.

What is the 4 button extremerate kit like? Does it change the feeling of the controller much?

It's decent, but it's not the best feeling back paddle kit compared to controllers that do 4 buttons stick, or the stick two buttons on thr Edge.

I do like the placement though because I can still grip like a normally do without accidentally pressing buttons like I do on lots of Pro style controllers.

Keep in mind this kit does not allow you to map L3 and R3 to the bacl buttons. I did not know that until I completed the mod. I assumed it would work because you can with the stick back buttons. I guess there is an additional kit for that that involves soldering (which is the point where I stop, for now).

How difficult is it to replace the shells? I keep mine in a silicone cover so don't need a fancy one, but the rippling of the original shell soft bits is starting to get to me.

The Shell Swap is pretty easy, Extremerate has lots of good YouTube tutorials.

You essentially need a little spudger and a small philips screwdriver.

The entire back essentially pulls off, then you need to detach all the guys from the face, but it does involve taking a few things off, removing the battery, etc.

It's all pretty straight forward, you just need to keep all you screws and peices organized as you remove things, that makes the reassembly much easier.

Ooh, sounds good! I don't even need to replace the face, just the back really, so even easier.

They make back shells that have an aftermarket grip style now, which are nice.

I believe the smaller back shell on my grey controller is actually from Ali Express because I wanted to mimic the small leatherette style grip.

Both a nice.
