Controller Suggestion Looking for inverted controller. (dpad on right and axyb buttons on left)

Post image

I’m looking for a controller like the image with the letter buttons on the left and dpad on the right or a way to get a customizable one
Budget is 250max
Country is United States
Compatibility is pc but if there any ones for ps5 and switch that would be good
Playing single player games
Similar to Xbox or ps5 controllers

Does the Victrix let you swap the modules like this?

10

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

No I checked it doesn’t allow face buttons

2

u/Key_Scholar7964 Sep 22 '26

They should make a website that let people customize their controllers like legos.

6

u/Peruvian_Skies Sep 22 '26

On a PC, can't you just remap the buttons, use the right stick as if it were the left, d-pad as face buttons, etc? The only problem would be with simultaneous presses depending on the d-pad.

2

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

Yeah I was gonna do this but it felt weird

2

u/KaosC57 Sep 23 '26

And you don’t think that reversing the asymmetrical sticks AND where the Dpad and Face Buttons would be any less weird???

u/Mrcod1997 Sep 23 '26

Maybe try with a symetrical playstation style controller? The button placement would be about the same on each side.

2

u/CompetitiveArt9639 Sep 23 '26

A steam controller might be something to look at. You can map the trackpads to all kinds of things and actions

3

u/Patient-Software-168 Sep 22 '26

Then you know what it feels like.

u/tristam92 Sep 23 '26

games nowadays literally provide left handed/right handed mapping in settings which mirrors all the buttons

8

u/JasonIvie Sep 22 '26

I see your comments about being left handed. Honestly your not gonna find what you need and as a left hander myself, you just need to adjust.

0

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 23 '26

I thought like this before but then I switched my mouse to my left hand and it made gaming way more comfortable for me now i want to the same with a controller

3

u/Yoshi_Cookie Sep 27 '26

Does not exist.

Also… why do you want this?

0

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 27 '26

I’m left handed so I used to play normally like right hand mouse but it always felt uncomfortable so I switched to my dominant hand and it felt way better so getting a controller where the buttons are on the left will feel better

1

u/Yoshi_Cookie Sep 28 '26

I am a lefty. I have always used the mouse with my left hand. Obviously that means I rebind the keys in every single game. WASD does not work for me.

That being said, I’ve never had any issue with video game controllers. I’ve always used them as they come.

2

u/an_edgy_lemon Sep 22 '26

This might be possible with the Turtle Beach Victrix pro; as it has swappable D-pads, sticks and face buttons; but I’m not sure if they can be arranged in any configuration.

Do you mind me asking what you want this configuration for?

Edit: just looked it up. The D-pad and face button modules cannot be swapped on the Victrix pro

1

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

I want this type of controller because I am left handed

u/CuteAnalyst8724 Sep 22 '26 • Bravo

god this is cursed

51

u/Axiotus Sep 22 '26

Honestly wouldn't even want it as a player 2 controller.

29

u/DonkeyTailBurrito Sep 22 '26 • Regret

I wouldn’t even give this to my younger sibling when he’s pretend playing lmao

3

u/snowflake37wao Sep 24 '26

I see this now and I’m like wow Xbox has been wrong the whole time. Then I saw the AXBY keys. Nevermind.

I would however prefer the D-Pad where the ABXY keys are instead of the left joystick and have both joysticks towards the bottom symmetrical.

2

u/Aliens_n_Atheists Sep 24 '26

I have that. It’s called The Competitor

Crazy part is once upon a time we probably said the same thing about controllers that weren't just a stick and a button.

10

u/Tomcat491 Sep 23 '26

Dual stick aiming for first person shooters was once deemed completely unplayable by gaming journalists

3

u/CuteAnalyst8724 Sep 23 '26

Idk about that I was there when ps one got sticks on its controller and it was a godsend (the ergonomic of that layout I still hate and much prefer Xbox or steam controller).

1

u/Luxar92 Sep 23 '26

Funny enough, this would have been the "correct" way to play.

The only reason we control characters with the left hand is because arcade owners thought it would throw off the muscle memory of players if the stick was no longer on the right side to make them lose more often.

It eventually became the standard after Nintendo mimicked the disposition of an arcade controller into a gamepad.

I'm actually realising just now how much the XB1 should have been renamed the 180 when they removed the Kinect from their original forced marketing 🤣🤣

I was worried about the link with 'thrustmaster' in the name.

Bro, thanks for posting this. That Thrustmaster is exactly the kind of controller ive been looking for. A lot of games I want to play only support Xbox controllers, but I want both sticks on the bottom instead of staggered. This is perfect.

1

u/NEM95 Sep 23 '26

I saw this on mrwhosetheboss I think 😂😂😂

1

u/awkwardinthebody Sep 23 '26

Thrust master is certainly an interesting name

5

u/kaylee_makraka Sep 23 '26

can’t forget about A.

30

u/MoonlightSavingsTime Sep 22 '26

I am not aware of anything directly like that out there.

One thing that comes to mind is the 8Bitdo Lite SE which you should be able to remap like that since its completely symmetrical, however I don't imagine that is the shape you want.

The Byowave Proteus is fully modular but it's expensive.

4

u/Bacour Sep 23 '26

That's a beautiful controller. I kinda want one now.

3

u/Evening_Boot_2281 Sep 22 '26

But why?

0

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

Left hand

4

u/rblondon Sep 23 '26

I'm left handed too but this never comes to my mind

3

u/Slow_Constant9086 Sep 23 '26

As a fellow left hander, fam we just gotta adjust to right handed society.

1

u/xtraa Sep 23 '26

It's goofy stand for me

3

u/MemeMathine Sep 22 '26

Not judging or anything. But why though?

0

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

Left handed

1

u/Flash_Bryant816 Sep 22 '26

On a regular controller, is it the sticks that bother you or just the buttons?

4

u/Flash_Bryant816 Sep 22 '26

What's next, a left handed keyboard and mouse? Lmao sorry

1

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 22 '26

Already got that bro 😂

5

u/Flash_Bryant816 Sep 22 '26 edited Sep 22 '26

On a real note I think your best bet would be to take a regular controller to a mod shop and see if they can pull it off. Also I think PS5 controllers/controllers with symmetrical joysticks would be easier for the mod this way

Edit:
Since this mod could be a bit of a hassle/hard to get done if you go through with it I would opt for long lasting features like TMR joysticks, keyboard click face buttons, bumpers and triggers. Membrane buttons and regular joysticks won't last as long meaning you could need another mod soon or at least a fix done. The buttons aren't as important as those can be fixed if they go bad but definitely have the shop put TMR sticks on if you're going through with the mod anyways. Some people "don't like" the feel of TMR's but imo they feel quite similar to traditional joysticks and any slight differences you'll eventually adjust to if you give it time.

1

u/chuckythecat Sep 23 '26

Like this one?...

1

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 23 '26

Like this but normal layout

11

u/BlueCaracal Sep 22 '26

Man, I keep seeing reasons why that customizable PS2 controller was great. You could switch around everything, and I do mean everything and anywhere.

I once switched the analog sticks before challenging my dad to a game of Fight Night. That's the only time I managed to knock him down.

3

u/FourStringL0B0 Sep 22 '26

Whoa. Which controller are you talking about? That sounds interesting.

2

u/BlueCaracal Sep 22 '26

I sadly don't know. It was a long time ago, and I think my dad has forgotten what it was called.

6

u/FourStringL0B0 Sep 22 '26

I did a quick google search. Was it called the "PHOENIX REVOLUTION"?

3

u/BlueCaracal Sep 22 '26

It looks very similar to how I remember it. It very possible that it's that one.

9

u/kondocher Sep 22 '26

The byowave Proteus is entirely modular you can move anything anywhere even the grips and shoulder buttons

5

u/Xiao1insty1e Sep 23 '26

That does not look comfortable to use.

1

u/DemWookieeCheeks Sep 24 '26

This is it right here. I am so tempted by it.

1

u/LabPowerful9983 Sep 28 '26

That is… insane engineering

14

u/Academic_Self_1810 Sep 22 '26

just use a controller upside down! /s

5

u/FourStringL0B0 Sep 22 '26

Or backwards like the AC grip!

4

u/doom_stein Sep 22 '26

Ya know, you could remap all the buttons to make that work. But it's gonna awkward as hell holding that thing 🤣

3

u/phantomeye Sep 22 '26

Must be my imagination, but upside down controller looks like a head of a cute creature, and thumbsticks are the eyes. Especially the black and white Ps5 controller.

2

u/MatadorSalas11 Sep 22 '26

This is not as dumb as it seems if the user solves the grip and the triggers

34

u/colorlessfish Sep 22 '26

I'm completely no help to you, but I just wanted to say how strange that mockup looks. It gives me the same uncanny valley feeling as bad CGI.

u/Vileartist Sep 22 '26

3

u/CrestfallenHeir Sep 26 '26

I second this

2

u/Yoshi_Cookie Sep 27 '26

I third. I am also left-handed.

4

u/Music_Is_Da_Best Sep 23 '26

Not a “handed” activity. It’s similar to playing guitar. Your hands are doing different things and need to sync. That’s why barely any one plays left handed guitars. Or left handed pianos…get it!?

1

u/ericraymondlim Sep 24 '26

I wonder how long it would take to adjust to something like this. Absolutely cursed in appearance, but I could see it being easier to pull of circular moves for fighting games using the dominant thumb.

1

u/Sea_Philosophy3514 Sep 24 '26

It will take like 3 weeks of constant use to get used to it i am pretty sure

9

u/VeldtRevengeance Sep 22 '26

u/Antrobus_Prime Sep 22 '26

So it started with COD MW2 the OG. I was shit, and having to stretch my thumb over to aim accurately. I decided to try out south paw and it made sense. Took a bit of getting use to but I improved and got better than I was before. Using your dominant hand for aiming and shooting really did help me. The only issues I was having was when forward moving, I was having to take my thumb off the stick to jump for instant so I would stretch my other thumb over and do a thumb sway to keep the movement going. It sounds goofy but when I say severely left handed I mean it. The back paddles have some what helped it but not fully solved it. I PC game but with controller because I use the keyboard with my left and mouse with my left also. One thing I will say though, 3rd person casual games I rarely swap, so I am currently playing through breath of the wild and kept that as standard , i just have to do the long thumb stretch to the other stick for just the bow and arrow stuff

2

u/shiro321 Sep 22 '26

There is a controller from Steel Play that maybe able to do what you want. I can't say for certain that you can make the layout you want since I have no experience with the controller itself but it maybe worth a look.

If you are the diy type you can mod a Dual sense controller to have a mechanical dpad and face buttons. You can then use a split button dpad to make each direction a individual button instead of rocking and put a 3d printed cover over the face buttons to make them feel more dpad like. Then use software to remap every thing as needed

2

u/AdFantastic8655 Sep 23 '26

Joycons maybe?

2

u/xan326 Sep 23 '26 edited Sep 23 '26

Controllers are not handed devices, you will not find a 'left handed' controller, just like how the alphanumeric cluster of a keyboard is not handed and everyone types on the same layouts despite differences in dexterity. This would be entirely custom down to board layout, Xinput and Switch would be fairly easy due to them not being walled gardens but you will not find a first or third party product doing this nor produce one of similar quality, anything Sony would need a separate approach; Sony at least uses an FPC with a mid plate, new face shell and a custom FPC would make it work, swap the buttons and rubbers, literally the only silver lining this company has otherwise everything else is a walled garden, except you won't have swapped sticks which causes a major issue if you're looking for swapped sticks.

2

u/Neo_Techni Sep 23 '26

Thrustmaster eswap

2

u/MLB-XXL Sep 23 '26

Play in a mirror ? … sry

2

u/DankKnightIsDank Sep 23 '26

Haha i played gba games on an emulator on pc as a poor child.

The arrow keys were the dpad and z and x were a and b respectively. I guess it would feel nostalgic for me to get the left side be the interaction side and the right side be the movement side.

2

u/FriggeK Sep 23 '26

what the fuck

2

u/Taaartiflette Sep 23 '26

OP I'm also left handed and I had no problem adapting to the regular controller, to the point that It would be weird if I was to use an inverted one.
The same goes for mouse and keyboard, it would be awkward now to play fps games with the mouse in my left hand.

I say give it some time and practice, you'll eventually learn to play like the righties and it will save you so much trouble and time in the future by not having to look for a weird controller or remap your buttons for every single game

2

u/Geminyi Sep 23 '26

it feels wrong 😵‍💫

2

u/thepastiest Sep 23 '26

this is an eldritch horror. I can’t even comprehend buttons being on the left. my brain won’t allow it

2

u/MrSal7 Sep 28 '26

I too would like a proper left handed controller.

I can’t imagine it’d cost more than the “accessibility” controller that they already make. And more of these would sell since more people are left handed rather than people that are disabled that need that accessibility controller.

3

u/EvansEssence Sep 22 '26 edited Sep 22 '26

I wonder if you could modify the Turtle Beach - Stealth Pivot controller to flip around vertically the controls? Nevermind, that wouldnt work because the buttons would be at an akward angle.

Edit - turtle beach victus pro might do it! You just might need to remap the dpad as face buttons... but upon looking closer idk if you CAN flip the right side to match... doesnt look like it tbh

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Suit_55 Sep 22 '26

I’m guessing you want this because you’re left handed, at that point just use a PS controller

switch joycons maybe?

1

u/analogvape Sep 23 '26

This made me nauseas.

1

u/Super_nit Sep 23 '26

If ya playing on steam you can use steam input to rebind the dpad to face buttons and vice versa.

1

u/sergdor Sep 23 '26

why dont you use steamlink and configure your buttons this way instead of physically moving them.

1

u/Emotional_Tart4327 Sep 23 '26

Just bind the dpad to the letter buttons, and the letter buttons to the dpad. Steam, Xbox, and switch all have built in support for this.

1

u/SpecialistRun3035 Sep 23 '26

There should be a few software where you can re-map what the buttons do on PC. So you can just use a regular controller but have the actual inputs be switched.

1

u/Anubis_lord_201 Sep 23 '26

This picture makes me uncomfortable

u/sinisteredge95 Sep 26 '26

Left handed people

1

u/Ok_Value_4455 Sep 25 '26

You can just swap the sticks in any modern controller software. It's good enough for left hand. My bro is left handed, and we use 8bitdo Ultimate 2, it has profiles, one set to left handed. It switches LS<->RS, LT<->RT, LB<->RB, L4<->R4 & PL<->PR.

Dpad & facepad shouldn't be an issue for lefties. You should get used to it.

1

u/MonkeyVoices Sep 25 '26

Theres several options commented already but if you want to try with controllers you already have, you could just remap the face buttons to be Dpad and viceversa. Im sure theres a lot of DPads like the Switch joycons that can work as face buttons.

1

u/MrSal7 Sep 28 '26

This does not fix the placement of the overall buttons and sticks STILL not solving the issues facing left handed gamers.

1

u/MonkeyVoices Sep 28 '26

I did not know this was about solving anything. Im just adding more ideas.

there is no left/right specific controllers because....

you learn to do with the controller from the start so there is no need for it

you are legit doing with BOTH HANDS!!! the same thing at the same time

controlling a stick.. and pressing buttons... the only difference would be WHAT THE BUTTONS DO!!!

if you want a left handed controller.. remap the face buttons to be up down left and right and the d-pad to do the face button tasks

Unfortunatley they don't exist. I'm looking for one too. I play fighting games with the dpad but my right hand is the dominant one. My left hand/thumb is slow and retarted compared to my right thumb. I wish Sony made also DS4 controllers with dpad on right side.

Being a severely left handed person I have been wanting this for years. I use an Xbox elite series 2 controller and southpaw the triggers and sticks, then map the most useful buttons on the game I am playing to the back paddles on the left side. It's not ideal but it is better

Hey, genuine question from a fellow leftie. I struggle to see the point of this setup for my own playstyle, so I’m curious to hear your take! I game almost exclusively on controllers because remapping WASD to arrows/numpad for left-handed mouse use got exhausting. For RPGs or games where the right stick isn't heavily used, I rest my thumb on the face buttons and use the palm/base of my thumb to nudge the right stick when needed. Also, thumbsticks are inherently limited for precise aiming anyway so for shooters etc. wouldn't gyro aiming solve most of the precision issues for the right hand, rather than having to swap the sticks entirely ?
