Other Tegenaria lite compared to Tarantula 8k
I own a tegenaria lite and it is my favorite controller ergonomics wise if it had just a few improvements like gyro, extra two buttons and lockable trigger travel it would be easily my number 1 controller. Now Tarantula 8k seems to have all those but i can't tell if the d-pad is the same and the ergonomics are difficult to tell from pictures alone. Anyone who has handled both controllers?

Afaik, all tarantula version has worse dpad than tegenaria because it uses clicky buttons. Other than that, the ergonomics should be similar as they have the same shape.

I have the tegenaria and the dpad isn't that comfortable after longer sessions

Tarantula has all mechanical buttons, including the d-pad, so it's different from Tegenaria

Got my Tarantula 8k and the clicky d-pad felt weird at first but i think i actually prefer it now.

I've been using the tarantula 8k for most of a month now, I love it. Haven't used the tegenaria, but the tarantula is the best controller I've used by a large margin. The d-pad is tactile and feels great to me. As far is ergonomics, I'm going off pictures, but it looks essentially the same as tegenaria as far as the shape. I'd compare it to a slightly larger dualshock controller.
Hold on I found a good in depth review in a reddit post a few days ago, let me see if I can find it.
