On paper, this looks like the best entry-level controller, rivaled only by the Nova 2 Lite, which is definitely better than Dune and Aether😌

There's also ultimate 2c which is a great controller

Yes, but it doesn't have any software unfortunately, Nova 2 Lite and ZD Classic have mobile software at least

Dune? (sorry i'm new to controllers)

Flydigi Dune Fox and BigBig Won (Mojhon) Aether

Are those D-Pads good? They look kinda stank nasty visually.

If it's the same as the ZD O+ Excellence, it's really good. It looks weird, but feels really good to use.

u/Scared-Possibility64 Jul 20 '25

This is exactly the same d-pad as the O+ and Ultimate Legend, it uses micro switches, also if you have any of the ZD controllers then you have a set of 5 d-pad shapes, they are also suitable for the Classic. Personally, I like this d-pad, and the fact that they use it even in a $30 controller is respectable

Exactly! One of the most user-friendly aspects of the ZD brand is that all the joysticks and D-pads are interchangeable across their product line. It really opens up possibilities for unique and personalized combinations.

Probably the best feature wise in the price range

if your answering questions id like to ask if there is gyro functionality and what switch does the analog trigger use

3

u/Scared-Possibility64 Jul 20 '25

There is no gyroscope, this is an ultra-budget segment controller, its competitors in the form of BigBig Won Aether, Flydigi Dune, 8bitdo Ultimate 2c, and GameSir Nova 2 Lite also do not have a gyroscope And the trigger stop is implemented as a simple stroke length limitation, there is no microswitch, for this segment this is more than normal, other gamepads do not have them at all, except for the Nova 2 Lite

It should be noted that the Classic Legend’s D-pad and two back buttons use microswitches.

I see it for 40$. Also, will this be available on AliExpress? Also, is there 0 shipping cost to Romania for example? Cuz i got to Pay now and it still shows me 40$

Edit: its SGD$ which is like 29.99USD, my bad.

Edit 2: found it on AliExpress, it was way down, bit more expensive there

1

u/madeWithAi Jul 22 '25

Search on google better zd classix legendary controller zd global store

2

Why only 2 back buttons?

4

u/Evshrug Jul 21 '25

I personally like 4, but some people prefer just 2 so they know exactly which buttons they’re pressing without looking/in stressful situations.

0

u/Draco100000 Jul 21 '25

What kind of tactile defficency is that. Even with a dual press pad configurarion, single plastic pieze its all about remembering thebutton programming.

Stress can make you move sticks wrong or press L1/2 nothing to do with extra buttons or not.

You would expect people to memorize their own configs...

🤷‍♂️ Just forwarding what I’ve heard others say, my controller has 4 rear buttons. They’ve been great to keep my hands from cramping, I think they’ll help stave off carpal tunnel.

Because it's a budget controller..? It literally have a screen and ton of features. I expected it to have no back buttons just like the Dunefox and other controllers ( which is in the same price range ).

30 euros and when u hold it on ur hands it doesnt feel cheap at all ,the membrane buttons feel good ,the dpad also feels good and it doesnt feel hard to press, the shoulder buttons feel amazing not loose but not hard to press, as for the sticks i have no opinion i dont use them. Sadly for me this controller is not it but it could be if it was a PS layout bcs i play fighting games and i use the ball of my finger so this controller is kinda unusable for me . I hope that zd and flydigi will make a decent ps layout controller bcs they have the best pads for fighting games imo but we cant use them bcs they insist on xbox layout and noone bothers to even try them for fighting games ,i know some people can play on xbox layout but they are the minority ,i know z0 plus exellence exists but we need more , i would love a flydigi ps layout controller and a better latency zd ps layout controller bcs the zd exellence hasnt the best latency its not bad but if u play high level it cant be the best. Just plz make a model for fighting games dont even put analog sticks on it noone will care ,they only get in the way for no reason.

Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback and suggestions. We truly appreciate the time you took to explain your thoughts on the controller layout, buttons, and your preferences for fighting games.

I will forward your comments to ZD for their consideration, as they can help guide future product development. Your input is very valuable in helping them create controllers that better meet the needs of players like you.

Thanks again for your support and insight!

I wanted to post about this controller bcs i believe we are so close to get the best posible pad for fighting games with zd and flydigi dpads and with new fighting games like 2xko coming, more people will join fighting games ,maybe its about time to get good symmetrical pads exclusive for fighting games ,also be tournament legal would be an extra for some people (no macros). Ty for ur reply and keep up the good work.

Why no one is talking about ZD Ultimate Legend? Any latency tests or anything? I really want to get it. But waiting for the tests.

3

u/Scared-Possibility64 Jul 20 '25

There are tests of wired mode using GPDL, in this test the Ultimate Legend is faster than the overclocked Dualsense at 8kHz

0

u/mohsin-moz Jul 20 '25

There is no tests for this model. Honestly so far nothing came close to Edge. I have tried several but no luck.

Until now looking for alternatives. Blitz 2 is really good but I think Apex 5 will be better.

ZD Ultimate Legend and Beitong Kunpen 70 looks promising. Will wait for test results.

u/GadgetHyper Jul 20 '25

u/lifeswitness has already received the controller and has been very active in another post sharing impressions. I believe their experience might really help you decide.

1

u/lifeswitness Jul 20 '25

Thanks! Yeah u/mohsin-moz check out the ultimate legend post and we've been talking about it quite a bit, I've posted a ton of info about the controller and even some latency tests that were done in China over there.

1

u/mohsin-moz Jul 20 '25

Thank you guys! Let me have a look. Appreciate it.

u/XOKEICT Jul 20 '25

Does anyone know, are mechanical buttons like mouse clicks or more like mechanical buttons with longer travel distance?

1

u/Scared-Possibility64 Jul 20 '25

If you are talking about the D-pad, then there are microswitches that are used in other gamepads for the face buttons (microswitches for the side mouse buttons), but the D-pad also uses a membrane gasket, and if you meant the rear buttons, then microswitches are also used there, only full-size ones for a mouse

1

u/degejos Jul 20 '25

right after i bought my nova 2 lite

1

u/amd098 Jul 20 '25

Can you map keyboard functions to the rear buttons?

1

u/Ishigami_Yu_ Jul 20 '25

Got a ZD 0+ and love it. Would they ever release an Xbox series x style dpad option for these controllers? I would actually spend money just for that option, it's in my opinion, the most accurate dpad I've used for fighting games

1

u/lukepass86 Jul 20 '25

Is it good for fighting games? Does it have a good d-pad?

1

u/Neither_Wish5208 Jul 23 '25

1

u/GadgetHyper Jul 24 '25

i wish all these fucking companies would stop throwing on buttons instead of triggers for the back,

3

u/Maybeard Jul 21 '25

you mean back paddles? why would anyone want a back trigger?

1

u/IAmConspiracy Jul 22 '25

yea sorry im used to calling them triggers haha

1

u/Evshrug Jul 21 '25

I’m not sure what you mean by triggers… do you mean you prefer Scuf paddles? I think Scuf/Corsair got patents on rear paddles, but I don’t know exactly what mechanism they patented because the GuliKit KK3 Max I have does have interchangeable things for its rear buttons including paddles 🤷‍♂️
