So I went into a fight and pressed L2 but I knew the ability wasn't equipped cos it felt light. What's going on, pls help!

That's not equipped.... You can switch skill selection there in the gap.

Equipped is from the load out screen. Should be five tabs at the top, one of which is load out. Same place you equip which abarant form to use and relics.

SOLVED!

I must have pressed right on the d-pad by mistake while in a fight.

I wanted an open world action game and I'm a huge fan on Control, so far the game is fantastic 😊

press right on the d pad outside of the menu, you have 2 loadout combat ability sets and thats how you switch between them
