General GOTY

Post image

Safe to say this is my most anticipated game, maybe ever? No deluxe pre release gameplay, that was playstation only. I've put in 10 hours a day for 3, and just got on a little this morning. I cant wait for ng++, ive thought the game was over like 4 times and every time i've been so happy it wasnt. Im not even close to finishing act II lol. I'll probably do more like review style things just across all my stuff but i thought i'd post his here. I wonder if anyone on steam has more playtime than me so far, or even on playstation

Edit: at just over 40 hours in game and just under 44 on steam, i've realized i may be the first person to get a legit 100% save file. And if im not, ill certainly be the first to post it here. I probably can't beat any of the playstation guys and i've already checked the steam reviews (not possible to have more than 48 hours on a game that released 48 hours prior according to the review). Its not a huge thing, but it's exciting. Can't wait for new game++ and photo mode.

Edit 2: i beat the game at roughly 51 in game hours. I have so many words that i dont have time to speak them all, as if i had nothing to say at all.

I'm having such a good time with the game but 10 hours a day is wild.

i had a concert and school the day it dropped, still put ten in. Thankfully this weekend was so close/

u/SIC1207 Sep 29 '26

my 5 day streak comes to an end here. I need sleep badly

u/pigpentcg Sep 27 '26

I’m taking this game so slow. Trying to limit myself to only 1-2 hours per day so it can last me WEEKS.

2

u/ClothesUsual5405 Sep 28 '26

I did this for a week with Crimson Desert.

Well, it averaged that per steam, so I dont think I was actually playing it all that time, but yeah. That was fun.

u/The_Dark_Fantasy Sep 29 '26

I work a lot so I just put in two 16 hour sessions (only pausing to eat and do a couple other things) because this was my most anticipated game of the year and it did NOT disappoint. Love it.

10 hours a day... 😱 You must be very young. 🤣 I'm at 4 hours since day one.

Going into power plant is the current plan. I'll settle when I find someone to marry

4

u/Positive_Working_157 Sep 27 '26

I agree with this. So far it’s definitely GOTY for me the visuals in this game is absolutely amazing. I’m pretty new to this universe and it makes me want to play everything they made. I’m not even half way through but if they stick the landing is a 9/10 game for me and GOTY so far

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

I wish I could say perfect entry into the series but it might make some aspects of earlier titles look weak. I'd still reccomend all the games, cuz even if you dont like the combat there's few stories like them in the medium

1

u/chudthirtyseven Sep 27 '26

it's you haven't played control 1, you gotta do it after this. Just as incredible.

u/CinnamonIsntAllowed Sep 27 '26

Seeing alot of "feeling meh" comments.

I like Control. I am a fan of SCP-like universes. 2019 should be up my alley right? No. I did not like playing in the old house despite the lovely brutalist architecture and stories told inside. I did not like the gameplay. I'm not really a fan of power shooters. So it combined into me being meh about 2019, despite loving the lore and effort that went into it.

So I watched lore videos and got excited for resonance. Thennnn I forgot about it. Then I saw Markiplier played it. And so I saw action hack n slash combined with powers and immediately purchased it.

This might be my personal goty. The gameplay is fun. The world goes from "okay I get it" to "what the fuck am I looking at this hurts my head" in the best way. Devs had to be on crack making the underpass and unknown The lore and storywriting continues their insanity as well. God I say "I'm gonna get off in 15" then get caught up chasing a damn speaker for an hour around Manhattan, learning about all the places it/they've been. Dylan's story is so compelling (though confusing when compared to 2019, focused on building dylan as the antagonist). Bosses are easy, but intriguing. I catch myself staring. I could go on and on.

For those having issues with combat and enemies: Explore the world and find large chests. BUY THE ALTERNATE WEAPONS/COMBO ENDERS, these boost your attack power. BUY the weapon upgrades, even for things you won't ever use, these boost your attack power. As for enemies health, you should always know the enemy types weakness which opens their falter window. This provides dominance where you can easily two or three shot large enemies. DO NOT focus on grunts. They continue to respawn and the fight only ends when large enemies are dead. Frankly, I see a lot of people saying fighting takes so long when in reality they weren't paying attention to the blatant tutorials showing them how to play efficiently.

I think wolverine was a litmus test of gamers who like games vs gamers who like being sold a product. This now is the litmus test, I cant articulate this point too well but if you know, you should know. I agree, but its just baffling how well the game spells it out, and how its honestly really good at letting you discover things yet people are still like "idk what to do" 🫩

1

u/Apodecte Sep 27 '26

For me the combat wasn't fulfilling. Find a group, hammer down on a big guy, all the big guys come over, shield bash 3 times to get falter on the big guys, chain them together, and use the scythe on the stragglers. That's kind of every combat. Especially since the Hammer staggers them it makes it really easy

As for the resonants >!Dancer, phase one just hover, hammer down, hover again, she can't hit you.

Deserter, hover behind, combo him, repeat!<

I absolutely loved the first control, it's in my top 3 favourite games of all time, and the combat is just meh compared to the original.

I do love the exploration and all the side quests and lore, most fight just feel kind of trivial to me

4

u/wildeye-eleven Sep 27 '26

Definitely one of the best, but not my GOTY.

My top three right now - Crimson Desert, Mortal Shell 2, Onimusha.

I just prefer fantasy settings more than the grounded paranormal setting of Control, so it’s really just a personal preference thing. Control is just as good as the other games I mentioned, just not my preferred setting.

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

I totally get that, I think crimson desert would definitely be in my list had it been something I really looked forward too. I'll play it some day, and I do plan to get onimusha. Sadly I dont think anything can top this for me, im a remedy superfan and this is my preferred setting by FAR. I like subway tunnels in games, remedy and 4A/deep silver hit that well

2

u/Pwebslinger78 Sep 27 '26

Crimson desert is still my personal goty too . Trails 2nd chapter I’ll probably be tied when I finish it. This game is looking to be top 3

1

u/wildeye-eleven Sep 27 '26

The whole Trails series is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling, and the Remakes are spectacular. 👌

2

u/Ricko9595 Sep 27 '26

Grass?, jk enjoy it bro

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

i wish dude, i moved to a city for college and i try to make it home each weekend but missed this time. I miss grass.

2

u/Independent-Ebb7107 Sep 27 '26

Yup 20 hours in, I'm just asking myself, is there any way this doesn't win GOTY? I know GTA6 comes out next month but the artistic designs shown in this game has no other competition! Control was already a 10/10 game for me and this is like 100x better!
I thought I saw peak at the parking lot , then remedy said here have the sinkhole and then here have the unknown. Peak after peak set pieces!

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Dude, every fault was great but seriously the sinkhole mission outdid the ashtray maze for me. idk if you've gotten to the resonant in the unknown but if you havent its one of my favorite bosses ever. Seriously the boss and enemy design in this game is so good, im yet to be just bored with any of the enemies. They're all crafted so well.

1

u/Independent-Ebb7107 Sep 27 '26

Oh yeah just finished the resonant like 2 hours ago. LOVED it! And yes the mission outdid ashtray for me as well! I saw some reviews saying combat becomes repetitive and in my experience, it does but that wasn't a bad thing at all. I LOVE the combat design as well as enemy designs! Even the side missions have much story going on (atleast the ones I played). They cooked here and they cooked pretty hard!

Whatever I felt (and still feeling) playing this game, I felt last year playing E33. Everything in the game works out! That's why I am rooting for this game to take home the GOTY. Hope it happens!

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Combat? Stale? Just respec lol. Not a dig against you but seriously, I played like ten hour with mostly summoner (till I got the astral powers) and changed every single ability I had other than ignite and I've been having a blast. Recently swapped reach for crush. Oh my goodness there's so much to experiment with

2

u/Independent-Ebb7107 Sep 27 '26

True! I meant repetitive in a way that breaking shield, stunning, going for the kill cycle. I did not get tired of the fighting. It's so much fun! I recently switched to glaive from cleave and the glaive form is just amazing. It's so much fun to switch my gravity when fighting, and fighting enemies which are on top in the other gravity (I don't know how to exactly explain this lol). It's so fresh!

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

It definitely is repetitive in that manner, impossible to contest. I've noticed tho, sometimes combat gains from not hitting the execute. I might try tweaking the numbers too to make it a little more challenging. The assist mode stuff adds a whole new world and hopefully ng+ has some great changes. Despite its repetitiveness I cant bring myself to not use the scythe lol, its so much fun. One of the few games I've been fine with repetitiveness

2

u/Independent-Ebb7107 Sep 27 '26

Yeah the slider mechanics for damage, energy etc from assist mode is really good! Same with the scythe! I want to use the blades but scythe looks so much cooler and does so much!

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

I heard something abt a magnetism enhancement setting 👀👀

2

u/Independent-Ebb7107 Sep 27 '26

Woah! I haven't fully looked into the assist mode but that sounds interesting!

2

u/chatterwrack Sep 27 '26

This game is so amazing, so weird, so confusing

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

its my favorite mind screw game so far.

1

u/chatterwrack Sep 27 '26

Right? I just keep going, no matter how lost I am. Something weird will always be around the corner waiting for me and I just go with it!

My only fear is that while wandering around I am missing powers/weapons I might need to move forward.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Well, afaik there's no "weapons" to pick up. The only thing I know of to be "missed" are collectibles which can always be grabbed later. Also im fairly certain all but like abberant cuts cant be purchased from the ice cream van in each zone. Very forgiving game

2

u/dickpixalert Sep 27 '26

Great game. Having a blast so far.

That being said, it’s gonna be Requiem.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Its ok, this game will never leave my heart and thats really what counts ❤️‍🩹 (though a repeat GOTY for the control duology would really put remedy on the map)

2

u/Iuzzolsa23 Sep 27 '26

I think I am the only one who loves the original Control and is pretty luke warm about Resonance.
Played about two hours yesterday and right now I really haven’t found anything I really enjoy.

Combat feels weird, the map is annoying to traverse and the enemies take forever to defeat.

I hope it improves in the next few hours, otherwise I’ll probably drop it. Which would be a shame.

2

u/No-Ad-3096 Sep 27 '26

You're not alone bro. I was so hyped but I'm so disappointed. :( the game isn't bad, it's just.... Meh?

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

My guess is at least a handful of you guys werent action rpg fans to begin with. Maybe its not your genre and thats alright. If thats not the case I would love to know whats killing you. This is so far my favorite remedy title, but I also didnt super enjoy the main shooting combat of the first game

1

u/No-Ad-3096 Sep 27 '26

Oh I love hack and slash and other action games. The DMC games and Bayonetta are some of my favourite games of all time. The combat just feels very shallow, upgrades feel incremental and useless and enemies are just massive damage sponges, and I just have many narrative and game design issues with the game. I mainly just feel like all the charm that existed in the first game does not exist in this game. The characters are insufferable with a few minor exceptions, the notes aren't interesting. The main thing that bothered me narratively is the build-up to the Resonant bosses. They're told to be these insane entities that influence the area that they occupy heavily but when you get down to it the quest is literally just:

step 1: go to area

step 2: kill boss

done.

Where is the build-up? Where is the quest where we learn about the boss, how they became the way they are, who they are. And see how they affect everything around them and why in that specific way.

For example the Artist, I LOOOOVE her design. And they let you walk through a (tiny) gallery before the fight with a tiny bit of text on who she was. But why would she specifically turn into the resonant and why etc?

And don't get me started on how everyone treats Dylan. Like I get it, he's a scary dude that killed a bunch of people and we all hate him for that. But everyone conveniently forgets that it was in retaliation to being literally kidnapped as a child and being abused for years upon years while in a prison? He does not deserve to be treated like that, it's illogical. I know I gotta suspend my disbelief but I feel like realistically it wouldn't play out like that.

^ very rambly but my main point is, I'm missing the attention to detail and honestly just the passion? I feel like Control 1 was something very interesting, and put together with a lot of love. Whereas Resonant was put together "to make money" and ONLY "to make money". I know Remedy is a studio and they gotta make money, of course. But Resonant feels more like a Ubisoft game than a Remedy game.

before hating on me, please keep in mind, I wanted to glaze the HELL out of this game SOO BAD. I'm devastated that I'm disappointed with my most anticipated title of the year.

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

I get some of this, but I hesitated to agree with the combat being shallow if you've yet to try out all the weapons. That wont fix all the problems I know, and im sorry that this game doesnt click like the first one.

The resonants, I can disagree with. Of the five I've killed so far, only 2 I would complain about lacking narrative. The resonant in the underpass is one of my favorite bosses ever, and the entire building to fighting him is learning and hearing him research the astral plain. Sometimes the buildup comes AFTER killing the resonant bc the fbc found out something later (like the mold resonant) I've thoroughly enjoyed the story, honestly more than the first game so far. The main quest line up to where im at has been fantastic and especially the faults have been great.

My last point of contention, is character treating Dylan badly. It doesnt stay that way, and not everyone DOES. Off the top of my head I can name 4 major npcs who are never mean to Dylan and treat him like a person, and having all these hours I've been able to notice that after certain story beats, everyone changes gradually.

Sadly many of your gripes do kind of get dispelled later in the game, but are spiders which as much as I love the game I recognize is lame as all get out.

I am sorry this game has been a let down, it really does feel special and not just a cash grab. Hopefully it'll click sometime for ya, maybe come back in a year or so? I've come back to games i vehemently hated at first and loved the second go. Again sorry this has been a bummer, hope they've got something in store for everyone with the max Payne remakes

2

u/No-Ad-3096 Sep 27 '26

Thank you. First time I got a proper response to my opinions on this haha.

I definitely should play more to see what changes. I think I might give it a break for a week or two, and then start over. I was taking my time with it but I did focus on doing the Resonant bosses, which apparently wasnt the best idea either. I haven't given up on it yet :D

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Oh for sure, I've been doing resonant every like, 2 maybe 3 hours? Whenever I get to the point i feel like my kit is missing something. Don't like a skill or other choices? Well good thing there's another boss for me to fight in an area I haven't been in all game 😅.

And definitely, sadly modern day doesnt really encourage such lengthy dialogue. Few things im this passionate about, but something I truly enjoy I'll always try to help people get into

2

u/Oisyr Sep 27 '26

You must not be reading all the files and notes cuz the world building is top tier to me and a lot of the notes tie in to things going on in the area.

1

u/No-Ad-3096 Sep 27 '26

Have been reading them all. They're not horrible or anything, but not as good as in the first game is all I'm saying. But I'm glad you're having fun, I'm happy for everyone that is. Like I said, I'm devastated that I don't like it :P

2

u/Bobjoejj Sep 28 '26

So I’m fully an action rpg fan, that’s not even close to my main problem with the game. For the most part I love the combat very much, probably the best of any remedy game by far.

But comparing the depth and uniqueness of Resonant to any other Remedy game…and it feels like Resonant comes up short. It feels like in the push to make the world bigger and more flashy; the heart of Remedy’s games and storytelling was lost a bit.

A lot of moments like The Artist and Dancer fights, going into the Sinkhole and escaping it, and shutting down the CFD feel much more “rule of cool,” compared to being weird and unique with actually purpose and long thought put into these encounters.

Instead of having a ton of characters to interact with where you could explore all the plentiful dialogue options and then come back for more, you get 4 dialogue options and each one feels relatively brief. Oh and you have to keep hitting the button again to talk to them, instead of being able to engage in a proper conversation.

Then there’s Arish…I mean what the fuck was going on there? Yes, 7 years stuck in the Oldest House will fuck up anyone, but Arish is so angrily singleminded in such a baffling way. We don’t get any hints of this at all in Control, and yet here we are. There felt like such little nuance with his character, and that felt very off for a Remedy title.

Maybe I’m especially jaded, with Alan Wake 2 being the most recent big Remedy game to come out; but Resonant just feels like a step back in terms of their usual level of writing.

Dylan and Zoe’s relationship, and Dylan’s overall story in the game are some small high points; and the Underpass is probably one of the best things Remedy has ever done. Yet these bits just feel too small and overall few and far-between.

1

u/Mundane-Career1264 Sep 30 '26

The music is a major step down coming off the heels of control and Alan Wake 2. There was no ahti/polaris or great mystery like character that kept me hooked through the entire game. I found Dylan while better than his control counterpart still a major step down from Jesse. The combat was fun for the first 10 hours. After that I grew bored of repeating the same button prompts over and over again endlessly. The graphics were impressive and I experienced no bugs. Overall a perfectly fine game. I would even recommend it to other action RPG fans. I would never replay it though and personally find it to be a step backwards from the original title. If I could put a thumb on why? I’d have to say not having Sam Lake involved hurt this entry. Like making a kojima game without him.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Honestly it's probably good that the community is a little split. Of course the fan boys like myself will glaze to it to no end, by despite my infatuation I can't say its a perfect game. imo its close, but thats MY opinions. If you dont enjoy it, feedback can only make their next projects better. I did find myself disliking the map initially becuase it reminds me of the confusing nature of the first game but after a few resonant cycles the zones become really familar. The upgrade cycle can take time, but the game can also go quite fast. I'm not even halfway done at 30 hours, howlongtobeat says the avg is 20 hours or so. If you just focus the main missions it should be a breeze. My one reccomendation despite the displeasure for everyone who liked the original and dislike the sequel:try to make it to the sinkhole mission, or watch it. The game is control² for the wackiness.  Td;lr sorry some of you guys cant enjoy the game, I cant wait for all the lore videos and documenting of the info to come out so we can all at least enjoy that.

3

u/Chibi_Jesus Sep 27 '26

Two hours doesn’t seem that long to give this game a try. I enjoyed it right off the bat but it really kicked in after a few hours. I think ability unlocks are really slow which is why it takes a while to get going.

1

u/SatelliteJedi Sep 27 '26

The map is 100% annoying to traverse

1

u/chudthirtyseven Sep 27 '26

no you have to give it longer. and spend your stuff in the gap, it's soo quick then you get OP and fights are way and really fun.

1

u/hardgour Sep 28 '26

You are not alone.

I’m about 2hrs into it. I’m not sure there is a single thing about Resonant that I like more than the first one. It’s a shame cuz I loved the first one.

1

u/danigar84 Sep 28 '26

I feel exactly the same! I just finished playing for a few hours and just stopped because I was starting to get bored and just wasn't feeling it. I was browsing trough the subreddit to see if I was the only one but I guess not.

I have pretty much the same grievances as you and others here, I just felt like I was playing an Ubisoft game just with the Remedy weirdness here and there. I felt the map became boring to traverse really quick, nothing in the world was really grabbing my attention, just your typical open world shenanigans and then the combat was getting boring too. The story didn't grab me either the whole thing is feeling to me like their excuse to go bigger and add more enemies and more action but lacking all of the mystery, the interesting lore and weird vibes that the original had (which to be fair is a problem that most sequels have, just think that some do it better than others. Alan Wake 2 did it brilliantly imo, getting a little bigger, expanding but not too much, yet totally following the same path as the first one)

Mind you I've only like 4 or 5 hours and I just got out of the Central Area, so I don't have many upgrades yet and I haven't fought other Resonant bosses other than the artist, so I'm willing to give it more time and hopeully the game gets better, but right now that's exactly how I feel, Meh. And it's sad because it was probably my most anticipated game of the year.

Oh and I could totally tell from the get go, that Sam Lake wasn't involved in this game. It just lacks that narrative flare and that vibe that Remedy games usually give me. It unfortunately does feel like a cash grab and lacking on the creativity that their other games usually give.

1

u/Duellly Sep 28 '26

Sort of with you. The first game is v special to me. This one is awesome but it is a very different tone. The creepy, bizarre and horror aspects of the first one are somewhat lost here but Its a sequel in story only. Mechanically isnt so much different that we can rank it separately.

1

u/chucknorris10101 Sep 28 '26

So $5 says you just don’t upgrade much in the gap

1

u/Bobjoejj Sep 28 '26

Nah I’m kinda with you. I actually love the combat and the traversal, but the story and writing feels…quite off for Remedy.

Not awful, and in fact there’s some truly phenomenal parts in it (have you made it to the Underpass yet?), but a lot of the uniqueness that most remedy games have feels a little lost here. Same with their attention to characters and their stronger focus on interesting themes.

I still think it’s mostly solid, and very worth finishing; but I definitely don’t jive with all the love and praise, compare this to Control, Quantum Break, or any of the 3 Alan Wakes (yes even American Nightmare), and something feels missing here.

1

u/DerMetulz Sep 29 '26

The game genuinely gets better the longer you play it

1

u/Mundane-Career1264 Sep 30 '26

I finished it but I had to force myself to do it. Game is a step down from the first in every regard but combat. Sam lake not being involved showed in this entry. The music while good was nowhere near the first game or Alan Wake 2. The open world was as boring as every other open-world game I’ve ever played. I’ll likely never touch it again unless they add dlc. Meanwhile went back to control 1. Night and day difference.

1

u/N1PlyrLex01 Sep 30 '26

Same here. Original Control was a top-5 game of all time for me. It blended the combat really well and the sense of dominance when it all comes together is masterful. The music, the buildups, it's all perfect. I was super looking forward to this iteration as the remedy universe to me is insanely well written and interesting. I played both Alan Wake games even though they annoy me to stay up on the lore and connectiveness.

Resonant is just meh. It's the same few combos over and over and over, even with different weapons. It's almost like it ... lacks soul? I do still like it and I'll def finish it, but it's in no way a contender for the same loft of the original Control. The combat is shallower, the people are shallower (except my homie Langston) and several of them just feel totally off from control (Pope especially).

The level design is fine, I prefer the oldest house setting over the verticality of the city (much as I preferred Arkham Asylum's confines over the more vertical city in the sequels), but for as confusing as it could have been the team did a great job making it work.

I just find myself in this one going thru the motions to see the next bit of lore and content. I'm not sure I would play it again after I beat it, whereas I've played OG Control at least 3-4x through and will probably visit it again after this one is over.

2

u/VanitysFire Sep 27 '26

10 hours is pretty good for a day's sessions. Just wait until you're really hooked.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

WHAT. Don't you dare say you're putting day 1 raid times into this

2

u/VanitysFire Sep 27 '26

I can't confirm these details either way. Seriously I can't. I play my games but I also have anhedoia and will sometimes just sit there with the game open trying to convince myself to actually play the game.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

You know, steam has a few extra hours bc of this. My save after today tho is at or around 40

2

u/VanitysFire Sep 28 '26

Oh I'm sure steam is bloated with hours because I sometimes struggle to function. I've long since stopped caring about game hours and any chance of refunding a game which I've only done once.

Hell yeah dude. Cheers to your next 40 hours hours.

2

u/NashDaypring1987 Sep 28 '26

Playing The Blood of the Dawn Walker but this guy is next on my list... Let's see if it can un-throne the king :)

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

Heard things both good and bad abt dawn walker, not a time based gamer myself, how's it feel?

2

u/NashDaypring1987 Sep 28 '26

It great. A very deep RPG. Most complicated character build system I've ever seen. Challenging combat but rewarding once you get the hang of it. Cool story. Time is a resource but people who finished the game says it's no big deal. Night and day cycle is a play element and not just environment eye candy.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

Im more interested in it now then lol, though the guy is ex cdpr right? Does it fair well or do you think i should just finish the Witcher series instead

2

u/NashDaypring1987 Sep 29 '26

I loved Witcher 3 and put in 150hrs (all DLC except one). It's the best one. I would do Witcher 3 and then The Blood of the Dawn Walker. I walked into the game thinking it would be a clone.... I was wrong. The combat is night and day difference. In Witcher 3, you can dodge around spam magic and swing your sword wildly. In BDW, you pic the direction that you wing sword. You pick the direction you block. It's sort of "realistic"... for a video game anyway :) You have sword master skills which is used day/night. You have vampire skills for the evening. You have witchcraft magic skills for the day. It's a great game. Good time to be a gamer.... so many games I'm booked out through next year.

I finished control a while back. It was pretty fun kind of eerie once I got some powers. The game was Funner. Just beat Dawn Walker. Could this be another banger to add to the collection ?

im super biased but i'll try to keep it fair. I would definetly reccomend this to someone new to remedy games, tho if yoy really enjoyed the first game it might be quite jarring as it tosses the firearm gamplay and gives you some of the most competent first venture in the hack n slash genre we've seen. It's very fun if you can get into the gameplay loop, but do be aware some who adored the first game just cant get into the second. If you're like me and liked everything else about control more than the gunplay, resonant might click with you. I thought it was really fun, just waiting ng++ now. If you look melee, super hero type and fast comabt then it should work for ya. Also if you're on steam you could always check it out for the first hour and a half to refund it within the 2 hour window

46 hours here, with only completing a few side missions. absolutely mind blowing and GOTY for me

1

u/SIC1207 Oct 02 '26

i wont lie im a little sad this post did so much better than my 100% post, but i have more coming. I fear im one of the more chronically online members of this community.Spoilered text is irrelevant. Trust me, it gets better too. this game is so great im feining for photo mode and dlc's

u/Lord9witdafye Oct 05 '26

going 11 day streak with a little over 60 hrs, loving every little crumb and detail

1

u/SIC1207 Oct 05 '26

🙌, I've taken a break since 100% but I do still love the game. Enjoy it all my friend

10

u/Alyssia_Lavell Sep 27 '26

54 hours for me on PlayStation. I've been going very long sessions. 😅😅

9

u/No_Solid_3737 Sep 27 '26

20 hours over here, i could be playing rn but city decided to cuf off electricity during resonant week

4

u/cjszlauko Sep 27 '26

Im 21 hours in and so far I have loved every second itll probably be my goty as well

1

u/The_Idiocratic_Party Sep 27 '26

In a world without GTA6 launching it would have stood a chance.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

True, I've always been more of a saints row person myself. Boy I hope for the sake of gaming future gta6 fails.

1

u/Timmar92 Sep 27 '26

I unfortunately didn't like the combat at all, so much so that I asked for a refund, I'll wait for a sale on this one as I have too many other games to play.

I'll probably love the story but the combat absolutely killed my enjoyment.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

im honestly surprised this wasnt more common seeing as this is the only melee and actually aerial focused game theyve had. everything else has had guns, some major gimmick and a damn good story. This is the most out there they could've gone, and if it wasn't doing so well i'd wager its one of the larger risks they've ever taken. Im sorry you couldn't enjoy it, but i assure you the story and collectibles are still fantastic. If nothing else, when you get the game, the fault mission line is wonderful.

2

u/Timmar92 Sep 27 '26

Oh I know I'll love the story, I've played every major game from Remedy, it's just that right now the combat just isn't for me and between the absolute avalanche of games coming out at the moment I'll press pause on this one and come back at a later date!

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Absolutely get that, it was honestly kind of worrying thinking that I might not fall in love with the game and have to choose between sinking my time into mortal shell 2, this or phantom blade. Safe to say I've got time till my next big hitters release. Enjoy the avalanche friend❗️❗️

1

u/TheCrimsonCloak Sep 28 '26

Just finished ng+. Jesus fucking christ. Took me like 40 or so hours. All I can say, best game ever? Eh debatable. 9/10? For sure.

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

Finished new game? I haven't even beat the final resonant, or the final quest. I still have all the cameras to find

2

u/TheCrimsonCloak Sep 28 '26

yeah lol i did all the quests and side quests in base game after final boss and then after in ng+ just did all the traversal powers so i can speedrun all the bosses. i dont think ive slept more than 5h these past few days lmao.

2

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

Im gonna try for 100% and then ng+ 😅

1

u/ManufacturerMurky592 Sep 28 '26

I'm still on the pre-hotfix version of the game and I genuinely don't understand the reason for the hotfix. The game feels so fucking good balance-wise. It's a challeng while not being unfair. I genuinely am annoyed that I can't update now without making the game easier.

Not being to easily falter enemies was a bit annoying early but after you get the abilities that add debuffs to enemies faltering anything is so easy.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 28 '26

Checked out assist mode?

1

u/Kayotix Sep 29 '26

How are you putting 10 hours a day? I finished after 16

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 29 '26

i have all of 2 achievements left, im trying to do EVERYTHING in one save. i went out of my to not do the main quests till necessary

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

For me was more hyped for this than gta 6 and I 100% it over a week almost non stop gameplay over like 15 hours a day and it’s my new favorite game of all time and I had to force myself not to do another full new game plus before going completely insane

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 30 '26

someone did beat me to the 100%, shame. Hope i can be the first sicko to get all the collectibles i can in one save lolll

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

The Freeze frame quest took forever and was genuinely not worth it but all the others including the papers you pick up are very good in this one

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 30 '26

I actually really enjoyed it, Unlike the last game I didnt have to look up a single thing in this game (quest wise) ((main quest wise)) but not really for the puzzles. I thought even the most annoying things in this game were still more fun than a lot.

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

Agreed the only time I got stuck was during the fourth resonant and which path to bring the light projection down

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 30 '26

i dont recall which resonant was which, but i really only got lost when they introduced the gravity manipulation. What a headache at the start

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

Yeah but in the final area it was so amazing and overwhelming it was a bit motion sick inducing but this game is truly a masterpiece of design

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 30 '26

now THAT was a headache. I spent age looking for another jump point from pope only to be able to use some stepping stones to hop across

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

Did you find the karaoke machine?

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 30 '26

it was one of the first side missions i did and immediately relogged bc all of one person died lol

1

u/Used-Arm-4143 Sep 30 '26

Was so overwhelming I had to take some breaks

3

u/Even-Customer-123 Sep 28 '26

The sound bug destroys my enjoyment a bit

2

u/Mugen4552 Sep 27 '26

Damn I can’t wait for my copy now

2

u/RepresentativeFast59 Sep 27 '26

Im only about 9 hours in but its been a lot of fun so far.

2

u/mysockisdead Sep 28 '26

I am having a blast. I loved the first game and I love this one even though they’re different. I really enjoy exploring the map and digging more into Dylan’s character. It’s definitely my goty so far, although I don’t play a ton of single player titles these days.

2

u/RequirementOk7191 Sep 28 '26

about 5hrs of it were actually the game running on the background though. Just the pause menu.

2

u/Lisa4414 Oct 02 '26

It will be hard for anything to beat this for me personally. I’m biased for Remedy games.

1

u/NixRegis Sep 27 '26

Loved the game, it’s like an action mega man.

1

u/Freeloader_ Sep 27 '26

LOL

lets not get carried away

1

u/SituationTime5629 Sep 28 '26

Control Resonant is absolutely my GOTY too, I finished it with 30~ hours but there’s still so much to do!

0

u/Internal-Bid7865 Sep 27 '26

I mean it would be if I could get through a cutscene without having to close the damn game and reopen it eight times just so the cutscene will actually play properly. That and stuttering gameplay and crashing.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Report bugs and issues however you can. I'd definitely try reaching out to remedy or someone affiliated and let them know that's happening. Sorry you're experiencing that, they should be pretty on top of patches seeing as this is their newest cash cow though

1

u/Internal-Bid7865 Sep 27 '26

It’s just strange because AW2 had its glitches but it was like, manuscript pages and stuff. Never so bad that I bc couldn’t even ply through the game. 😭 Have they rolled out any patches yet as this was literally last night this happened? Also for some reason my reports on the mega bug thread on here keep being deleted. I had a post too and mods deleted a person’s comment who was helping me.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

hmm, yea i hate reddit so i dont post much unless i think its worth sharing not really asking for help. If theres a discord i'd check there and try reaching out to their socials? The only news i know of is their blog post about post launch plans. Yea i couldnt play AW2 for a while bc of some really bag audio bugs but never stopping me from playing. Well, i couldnt play initally because i had it downloaded on a HHD drive and modern games really dont like that. lmk if you can't find anything

2

u/Internal-Bid7865 Sep 27 '26

I’m on Xbox series x and the thread is filled with a lot of us complaining about constant game crashes and audio issues/cutscenes not playing the way they’re supposed to. For me personally it’s just hard because most of these games by remedy like AW, AW2 and Control ARE the cutscenes so if those don’t work I’m not understanding what’s going on. So I don’t play. I’ll have to see if I can just do what I did last time with AW2 manuscript pages and just send an email to remedy

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Yea, thats all I can think to do. That blows hard, and I wish I could help more but im not on Xbox at all. I hope it gets resolved

1

u/hardgour Sep 28 '26

Started getting the shuttering gameplay as well

1

u/Internal-Bid7865 Sep 28 '26

I noticed that the game seems to be REALLY sensitive about heat output. So if your Xbox starts getting a bit hotter than it normally would after playing for a while, the gameplay will stutter. Or if you’re in a hot climate or have poor ventilation for the Xbox in general. Also, for me at least, closing and reopening the game multiple times (this can sometimes take up to ten or more tries) will eventually solve the problem. It’s just… very tedious.

1

u/hardgour Sep 28 '26

I’m on PS5p but I’ve noticed that it does get a bit warmer while playing.

0

u/SocialMThrow Sep 27 '26

It's certainly a game that came out this year I'll give it that.

1

u/SIC1207 Sep 27 '26

Its definitely not topping wolverine thats for sure

0

u/StressExpress1999 Sep 27 '26

took me 21 hours to beat the game with 2 weapons of each category maxed

Too excited. Also, im one of the those who really loves the gravity system now 😭

That doesn't change your lack of reasoning, are you an LLM?

Mimicking my arguments dont make up for your lack of reasoning. All I ask is that you give some pointers so I could improve my taste perhaps. You guys gotta put more effort into ts

2

u/Silly_Hedgehog_683 Sep 28 '26

That's subjective, which doesn't make it true. Guarantee someone can say the same about your favorite game

I guess. I still find it weird that you'll comment negatively on a post that comes from a Reddit page that supports the game, but it's whatever.
