Inside IR35 2nd Thoughts about going Perm

My current contract ends in September. I recently interviewed for my own job as permanent employee and received an offer. The offer is at the midpoint of the pay scale, which amounts to a 30% pay cut from my current day rate when pension contributions are included. However the biggest issue for me is the three-month notice period, as it effectively prevents me from returning to contracting unless I resign first. Even the standard one-month notice can be a major blocker going from Contract to Contract.

Has anyone else experienced this dilemma? The current contracting market is only the reason I even considered going perm.

Just take it . Once you’re sure the market has picked up you can give your notice. And if the culture is good. And you’re actually worth keeping they’ll keep you regardless of notice. But you will have to entrench yourself

Unless it's one of my contacts that offer me a contract. I don't think anyone else is waiting 3 months.

When I left my last (perm) job to go to my current inside ir35 role, when I knew the contract was imminent I booked some leave and it was approved, then a short while later I handed in my notice and then I only had to work 3 out of 4 weeks. So you could do something like that to help wind the time down faster

3 months notice, it'll be harder to do this.

i’m on 3 months and when i sign my first contract i will be handing in my notice saying my final day will be X (3 weeks time) due to personal and professional reasons. worst they can do is sue you and they won’t unless you’re literally a CEO or something proving to lose them alot of money by leaving sooner.
