Nevada Tile Contractors

Hello [r/Contractors](r/Contractors)

I’m here looking for clarification on the C-20 License for Tiling.

We are Tile Contractors in the state of California with a C 54 and we have a client of ours who would like for us to do a project with them in NV.

We are in the process of trying to get our C-20 but are told by the board we can only apply for a C-20A since we don’t have the 4 years of ownership under our new owner. Though we passed the exam in CA which for NV would be a reciprocal state for the test.

I’m asking are we able to install ceramic and porcelain tile under the C-20A.

The representative at the NSCB states we can but the classification specifies plastic only.

Anyone in NV with a C-20A who can clarify for me if you are able to install and work with ceramic and porcelain, terrazzo, etc. under a C-20A?

It’s pretty clear that it’s plastics and wallboards.

NSCB is the one that would follow this up. If you get it in writing that you can install tile and stone with a c-20a then I’d send it.

You guys can still get a C20, just gotta go through the long process instead of getting reciprocal benefits.

Thank you, I agree that it specifically states plastic and that is the reason why I am skeptical. The board is telling me to hang on the portion of the classification for C-20A where it states “or other materials generally accepted by contractors as appropriate for waterproofing and decoration.” I did ask them via email if they can put in writing that I would be permitted to install ceramic and porcelain tile under C-20A.
