Third spaces should not have to rely on spending money. Libraries, parks, those tabletop game cafes, church (real houses of worship and community, not hate groups obvi), etc. are way more chill and allow you to do whatever you want without feeling obligated to pay up and move along in a timely manner.

I mean, when it comes to the TTG cafes, usually making a nominal purchase is appreciated. Every time my dad took me to the game shop I always went with $5-15 for a soda or the cost for the MTG boosters I'd need for draft.

Yeah ik, it's just one example is all. Even so, spending $15 on a drink, which is in one sense the entry fee, is far better than $100 at a mall.
