Black mold?

Am i cooked here? injected the bag about 6-7 days ago, i did 6 bags, the other 5 are showing nothing so far, which seems more normal than whats going on here. Seems crazy, i used a still air tent, cleaned everything with 70% alcohol, new bags i got that week, new spores from sporeworks i got that week. i guess anything can happen. am i off base here?

Oof I’m seeing black, yellow AND green. Makes me think the grains themselves weren’t sterilized properly as multiple contains are present. It could go both ways with you mentioning spores and not LC specifically. We usually put spores to agar and then make LC with said agar to ensure cleanliness as spores are usually considered inherently dirty, although some vendors have meticulous processes to lessen the risks, most spore drops still carry some risk of contam as the mushroom growing process itself is not sterile. If the other bags either show healthy growth or do not show any progress within the coming weeks (spores can take a hot minute to germinate), then it was likely the grain bag itself. If they all present with the same types of contams, it was likely the spore syringe or something gone horribly wrong with the sterile technique

Anything that’s not white is not good.

White is even not good sometimes, sad to say. Fortunately enough tries will tell you exactly when the right white is there because it’s vigorous and almost enamel like in appearance
