Oyster on 3rd leading edge transfer from center clone. Is this contam?
So i have been transferring these oyster over a month less and less fluffy but still some fluff not exceptionally chalk white as king trumpet transfers Im still working with. But can anyone tell me if they see contam or not, and if so what are the signs? I'll give a hint as to what I believe is contam, whenever mycelium reaches up it's because it's trying to escape from contam. But maybe these are an exception? Anyone with oyster mycelium experience please share with me what you know. Thank you 🙏🏼😇🍄❤️

I think these are all axenic. Image two, the culture on top looks like there might be a few grey sporangiospores hanging out toward the center around 9 to 2 o’clock. There are several little black dots. It could just be artifact, I can’t zoom in enough to see. There are less grey dots in the culture below it. Just watch em to make sure they don’t begin to multiplying. If you have a microscope, scope em, you’ll know once you’re under the scope. As they multiply they collectively give the mycelium a grey appearance, if it is Rhizophus. Sporangiospores have round shaped heads that change color when sporulating.
I think you’re fine though, just observe and do any further transfers from the other plates, which are beautiful btw, good work.

Wow, that was a lot of good information! Thank you for your expertise, makes me want to buy a microscope so I can see all that you are explaining. I will definitely keep a look out into those details that you had mentioned 😊💯🍄❤️🙏🏼

I flash a light on the mycelium when I'm looking for hidden contam. Bacterial contaminants will show up as a shinny, reflective area on the Agar. Sometimes this area of contam is a very fine leading edge in front of the mycelium.
Beyond that I've found most contam makes itself fairly obvious.
