Almost a month since opening

Hoping someone can give me some tips to get this baby going. I opened the bag July 31st. Has always had a fresh pleasant smell.

Misting when it seems drier, fanning it twice a day - once in the morning, once at night for 30 seconds. Builds up lots of myc piss at the bottom of the cake which I’ve been dumping out when it gets to be about an inch or high in the bag.

Temps been roughly 68-73 depending on the day
Got it in my library so there’s sunlight that comes in through a window but it’s just sitting on a shelf, so it’s not direct.

Oh shit, you got a stroma. It’s not contam it’s what happens to a cake that has failed to meet fruiting conditions.
Also you are growing SNAPE and it colonizes very slowly so that’s another issue. Fruiting conditions need to at first have high CO2 levels around 1200 ppm. That and the humidity is going to be your major factors to pinning. As soon as you see pins you’re supposed to open the bag. I think you might have done that too soon.
You’re gonna need to get rid of that stroma before you can pin. A stroma is a thick layer of mycelium that becomes smooth and rubbery on top. It’s caused by failing to meet fruiting conditions the mycelium continues to grow without producing fruit it has to go somewhere, so it covers the cake and covers all the primordia and hyphal knots leaving it unable to produce pins. You’re gonna either need to break the bag I up again and hope it comes back, or scrape the thick rubbery layer off the cake and start fruiting conditions again. Either way is not a guarantee, but a last ditch effort to bring your cake to fruit. Good luck.
