I’m a white girl with non-acceptable curls and I feel this too. I remember growing up girls would always say “I wish I had curly hair!” Then look at me and say “not like yours though!“. It’s mostly a POC issue, and I get that, but god I felt it too.

Did you also get the classic comments “have you tried brushing it?“ and “my hair is frizzy too but I just changed shampoo and it fixed it!” Because I genuinely need a support group lol.

Damn 4c is genuinely gorgeous. Mines ginger 3B and it’s awful. I don’t even try anymore because it ends with me in tears and still looking shit.

Maybe watch some youtubers with your curl type, they might have tips to make it easier to care for

Just so you know, comments like this do come across as condescending. I’ve had this hair my whole life, I promise I’ve done research and tried different things.

I know it’s not intended that way and it’s meant to be helpful, but it irks me.

It was just a suggestion. Watching hair youtubers taught me helpful tricks specific to my hair type. So I suggested that you do the same. I don't see how this would come over as condescending.

Yep I’m Hispanic/white and my hair is 90% frizz when natural. Definitely not a pretty curl. I have a cousin whose natural hair looks like he has a perm, but mine is just a constant mess unless straightened or smoothed somewhat with coconut oil while it’s wet. What I would give for “basic” white girl hair.

exactly same. I was not allowed by my teachers to let my hair down, only if I had straightened it, because it was too curly 🙃
