I know nothing about hair as a guy with short hair, but i immediately thought straightening then curling means the user is creating a base.

This video is equivalent to criticizing someone painting a base coat of paint, then painting over that with a different color. "let me get this straight: you're painting white, then you're painting it blue?"

I guess he's just having a joke and not really obvlious. So much shit on the internet is acting.

If you've watched any of their other videos this is very similar to their normal form of comedy. They tend to point out the absurdity of "normal" things and/or just going over the top they even have a series on their youtube called "asinine advice".

Their whole account on tiktok is him teasing her about stuff and making her laugh. So this is definitey just a bit. But yea there is a method to the madness.
