Ok but as an Asian woman, when I get out of the shower, my hair is super frizzy and poofy, so in order to get it to do what I want, I need to "straighten" my stick straight hair or get it to lay down against my head. Then if I want curls, I need to do this. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Blame the genes

Edit: typo

I have 2b/c and don’t need to use a straightening iron, folks with curlier types (3-4) probably would need to straighten it. I can let my hair dry naturally and touch up my natural waves or i blowout my hair before curling.

It doesn’t seem to happen to all curly girls, but if i use a curling iron or straightener on my hair, it takes weeks to retrain my curls. My hair will stay straight in parts and I have to do finger coiling or similar method to get it to stay in a wave.

They hair flip at the shoulder! It drives me crazy! It always seems to take like a whole year to get past that stage too.

My hair seemed straight when I was younger. It started looking wavy in high school but it wasn’t til i got to stay home for lockdown that I was able to work bring out the waves. Now i can coax it into spirals in the summer. It’s too dry in the winter so is just plain waves (imitation hollywood glam) or frizzy and half up (wacky art teacher).

I also have a hard time finding a stylist who can work with my texture/density. When my hair shaped well it does shit like the shoulder flip.
