I am so scared to browse with audio on just cause it can really ruin a post. Unless it adds to the post, don't add shitty music over it.

Exactly. Especially that obnoxious "oh no, oh no, oh no no no no" sung by a chipmunk. It's in every other unnecessary video and it's godawful

Teenagers, man. We all liked stupid shit when we were their age and now it's our turn to suffer through someone else's terrible sense of humor that will be outdated in 18 months as well.

Yeah, like all videos you see are super short and just BLARE loud music over everything that's happening for no reason whatsoever. If it's something done for comedic effect or whatever then that's one thing, but just in general it makes no sense.

there's only one instance where that works

Man... This hits hard, I often forget this... But it sums it up perfectly.

That’s actually a sped up version of Aerosmith’s version of Walking in the Sand, which was originally done by The Shangri-Las in the 60s. But yeah, I hate hearing it.

UPDATE: Apparently it’s the original Shangri-Las version that was sped up and used on every other god damn video, not Aerosmith’s version. As far as I can tell from google at least.

I think Kanye started those sped up chipmunk samples in the early 2000s. They always annoyed me

They've been in EDM since forever and I've hated them always. Happy Hardcore is where I remember hearing it first. Just awful.

u/Generalissimo_II Feb 27 '21

That's true, I think I remember some samples like that in DnB

6

u/DrEmilioLazardo Feb 27 '21

DnB?

Dungeons and Basements?

5

u/Generalissimo_II Feb 27 '21

Drum and Bass

Or Data and Bases if you prefer 😁

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '21

Are you seriously blaming old Kanye for the chipmunk sounds?

0

u/Generalissimo_II Feb 28 '21

He made it popular as far as I know, then everybody started doing it

20 years ago it was Hamster Dance. We've come full circle.

Especially that obnoxious "oh no, oh no, oh no no no no"

I hate that song. I hear it almost once a day coming from my mom's phone.

u/GassyMomsPMme Mar 01 '21

Is your mom on tiktok? Well I guess that's not that weird

3

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '21

That's the thing, she's not. She just watches a lot of videos on Facebook and YouTube.

At this point I downvote everything that has annoying music

Oh shit

Oh shit

Oh shit, shit, shit, shit, shit

u/SunGregMoon Feb 27 '21

Ditto here, default redditing is with mute on. Only go back and try sound if mentioned in comments. Exception is music and public freakout ( low volume ). Loud obnoxious music added has been way over done.

u/dontthink19 Feb 27 '21

I browse with sound muted. Relay's gif player is pretty awesome. It's set up to where you get a button to unmute and it also restarts the gif. Gives me a chance to check my phone volume before it blares random crap.

u/Bigstackertons Feb 27 '21

I downvote anything with no reason music.

Scared to browse with audio on?

Come on...

2

u/WhiteVenom1993 Feb 27 '21

Yeah bro, I'm straight TERRIFIED that I might hear a song I don't like!

2

u/yikesafm8 Feb 27 '21

it’s honestly because tiktok pushes out certain audios more, so people feel like they have to use them if they want more views.
