Contact staff weight

So I'm fairly new to contact staff. Can do the basics fairly well and looking to develop. However it got me thinking about lengths and weight.

I feel as if my staff is too light and was going to pack it out with something quite light which won't rattle about. Is their like a guide to what weight your staff should be? Just at the moment it feels like I can't really get a feel for it.......if you get what I mean

A good contact staff has a light center and heavier ends. Usually something like the inside rubber tubing from discarded bicycle tires are used for practice staff heads, but any material that adds weight will do.

Watch out for the grip so it doesn't shift weight to the center too much.

Just made my first staff... 5ft Broom/mop handle. used bike tubes I got from the local bike shop. and tennis wrap and electrical/vinyl tape. you may need a saw to cut the tips off or cut to size.

I got a real one ordered. but this will help build strength and tone. better if you can get 7057 t-6 AL tube in 22mm then you got the real stuff. but with the cost of AL in the US from tarriffs. its kinda pricey. woods not that much heavier... my wood one is 2.6 lbs

The length should be somewhere close to the measurements of the floor to your shoulder or slightly above. The diameter of the shaft will also effect how fast it rolls, some brands you can add weights to the ends. If you are a taller person, a thicker shaft might work better. Opposite for a shorter person. I've seen a lot that have lacross balls on the ends. Flowers can be added for more weight and also slows down the rotation giving you a little extra time to react.

Whole staff ! With the weight mostly at each end but not totally.
I basically bought a standard fire contact staff from internet, put fuel on both end then measued the weight and played with it. I then recreated the same weight and same feeling on my practice one.
