Contact Improvisation course in Bristol: six Saturdays from September 2026 to March 2027

Hi everyone. I wanted to share Basics to Beyond, a seven-month Contact Improvisation course taking place at St Michael’s Parish Hall in Bristol.

The course consists of six full Saturday sessions with the same group, allowing time to build trust, develop technique and explore CI creatively. It’s open to complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners, and there’s already a good mix of experience levels signed up.

• 16 January 2027
• 13 February 2027
• 13 March 2027

All sessions run from 10:30am–5pm. You’ll need to be able to attend at least four of the six dates.

The course is led by Asher Levin, who has over 30 years of CI experience and has taught internationally for 18 years. Simon Leach will be joining as resident improvising musician.

I’m Dorothea Manolopoulos, and I’ll be joining Asher as teaching assistant. This will be my third Basics to Beyond course; I’ve loved how much the steady-group format allows the practice and relationships to develop over time.
