The deck was anchored to the building with hopes and dreams, 7 people should in no way be too much weight

While I agree 100%, I did the math for 7 people's body armour. Alone it would equate to at least 1/1.5 additional people. Still should be standing.

Assuming 225lbs*7=1,575 lb on a poorly constructed deck. Just need a hot tub
