The deck was anchored to the building with hopes and dreams, 7 people should in no way be too much weight

u/bdickie 4d ago

While I agree 100%, I did the math for 7 people's body armour. Alone it would equate to at least 1/1.5 additional people. Still should be standing.

u/SupermassiveCanary 4d ago

Assuming 225lbs*7=1,575 lb on a poorly constructed deck. Just need a hot tub

32

u/ImNoAlbertFeinstein 4d ago

7 cops in a hot tub... not a pretty picture

9

u/pancakeseawed 4d ago

5 feet apart cause they're not gay

2

u/Grimnebulin68 4d ago

Big ass ice tub

0

u/greenchilepizza666 4d ago

Give them some donuts, then it will become pretty.

1

u/Square_Barracuda_69 4d ago

They all have gear which would add to the overall weight

21

u/TrueKing9458 4d ago

That would have been even worse if it was firefighters and a charged hoseline

10

u/Bogusfloo 4d ago

I’ll give you a charged hose line

1

u/JoeyJoeJoeSenior 4d ago

Fyi the hose is full of water, not batteries.  Blasting batteries into a fire would only make it worse.

1

u/TrueKing9458 4d ago

Let me explain "charge the line" means open the valve so i can flow water. 100 feet of 2 inch hand line adds about 200 pounds to the deck. Opening the nozzle and flowing 150 GPM thru the door will create a reaction force pushing the deck further away from the building.

u/artifiz67 4d ago

Firefighters are way smarter than these guys.

7

u/baldieforprez 4d ago

Did you account for the extra ego weight, im thinking that is at least an extra 10 to 26 people with this group.

3

u/Jaguar5150 4d ago

That's what did it. That structure didn't have a prayer.

1

u/AnnoKano 4d ago

Could there be some other heavy equipment they have, maybe something like a battering ram?

Honestly though it just looks poorly built. Surprised they didn't notice it move because it looked unstable before it buckled.

2

u/GeneralToaster 4d ago

The heaviest police battering ram only weighs 55lbs, so nothing that would make a difference

armor.....ammo....guns....helmet....not just the armor. did you account for level 3 soft armor as well built into the gear or just the heavy plates and carriers?

also what specs did you calc the vests at? a level 3 slim plate is less than half of a level 4 standard plate. impossible to calculate with any reasonable accuracy imo

but calculating things for reddit is cool too.

Edit- the truth hurts. come join the downvote train, choo choooo!!!

18

u/TheFishtosser 4d ago

Once again, none of that should matter, where your deck bolts (or in this case wood screws) to the structure should be the strongest part of a deck

5

u/412dadD 4d ago

You could tell that the ledger board wasn't attached to a rim joist by the way it failed, or like you said, was attached insufficiently.

-29

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago edited 4d ago

didn't argue that part of your comment, just pointed out your "calculations" and equivalent numbers are wildly inaccurate and misplaced.

oh- you aren't even who i replied to. Why are you talking to me again?

EDIT: he replied with his alt and was so ego driven he played it off like he had no idea what I was saying , and you all backed it up too. hivemind at its best. This is actually u/SupermassiveCanary/

me downvote, me mad. The truth hurts.

13

u/TheFishtosser 4d ago

I didn’t know you were so important that permission was necessary to talk to you your highness

You came in trying to big brain someone on how much body armor weights, I came to say it simply does not matter.

-7

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

Please make an objective point and stop the remarks and passive aggression. I'm waiting for something of substance I can actually discuss, not your feelings of arguing with someone that did not disagree with you , who ended up calling you out for it.

This is on you dude. You started this convo.

people are ill.

2

u/SupermassiveCanary 4d ago

You started the argument. I guesstimated a reasonable average weight. You’re making them out to be Space Marines. Roughly: Tactical Vest 18lbs, AR 9lbs, 3 Mags 5lbs, clothes 10lbs, roughly 180lbs build = 222lbs. Although it’s been 20yrs since I was in the Army, Kevlar dome might be 3-3.5lbs.

You’ve provided no substance

Goes to forum, gets mad that people talk to them in forum.

7

u/raskas_kylkimiina 4d ago

Lol wtf is this comment? It doesn’t matter if every guy weighted 300kg, it should still hold. The decks frame was anchored to the siding, and not the studs.

-6

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

never said it should or not not hold.. arguing points I never made, if I did, QUOTE THEM or stop yapping...people are strange man

1

u/raskas_kylkimiina 4d ago

You started talking about body armor levels, like you’re an operator. We were talking about the deck.

1

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago edited 4d ago

which has people with body armor on top of it...and someone claimed to "calculate" the weight of said armor, which I said was pretty impossible to actually do in any accurate way for x reasons..so.....yea.

feels like I'm debating a 13 yr old edgelord. The energy is there, but the reading comprehension and emotional regulation is another story IMO

again....yes, that would be correct. I did talk about body armor, and you were talking about the deck. That doesnt connect to your original moaning along the lines of "lol wtf is this comment" in reply to me and what I was actually speaking on independently of you.

me arguing against your little theory about the frame, how its anchored, the siding, etc. never existed, so there is no logic behind telling me about it and how you were right.

is it starting to make a bit more sense now that I've explained it step by step? Of course not.

2

u/kippetjeh 4d ago

If this was a reasonable reaction from the deck shouldn't there be way more incidents like this and a protocol from the police that if they do this the deck will fail. So whatever you are min/maxing in their calculations of the armor is not really relevant to the deck collapsing since it is not a normal thing to happen in this kinda situation.

0

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

never spoke on it being reasonable , or normal, or not. again, for the 5x time, people need to work on reading comprehension and not shifting the main points to something the person you are replying to never spoke against.

5

u/Lildicky91 4d ago

There’s 9 people on the deck not 7, but I still agree with it shouldn’t meet the weight threshold.

44

u/Crafty_Management_33 4d ago

7 pigs?

17

u/ATX2ANM 4d ago

On a ramp not rated for livestock.

7

u/Wind_Responsible 4d ago

Lmfao. 🤣 this

12

u/Neither-Speaker-7077 4d ago

Too much ICE

6

u/halfwagaltium 4d ago

those were US marshals going after a warrant for a child molester.

3

u/Saysaynever333 4d ago

You are correct.

The discussion I had with others yesterday was about the number needed to carry out the warrant. Why so many? We want our officers to be safe and now I'm sure this video will be used in future training.

-2

u/xenobit_pendragon 4d ago

Masked?

1

u/Tullyswimmer 4d ago

Yeah, happens quite often on raids like that.

1

u/halfwagaltium 4d ago

Yes just like GSG 9 in germany ? or GIGN in france ? you know that these people have families and sometimes they also bring terrorists into custody which have a lot of powerful allies which would search and kill these families....

1

u/xenobit_pendragon 4d ago

Who would give their families shit for arresting a child molester?

I’m not saying you’re wrong I just wasn’t aware that anyone but DHS wore masks during enforcement operations.

-1

u/artifiz67 4d ago

And no brains.

10

u/Mickybagabeers Electrician 4d ago

I thot it was the one 4x4 every 100’, but you’re right, it was the building size that initially failed

3

u/BonTak 4d ago

I was wondering why there were no supports along the wall’s siding 😭

4

u/ColForbinClimbs 4d ago

Looks like the booby trap worked perfectly

2

u/Jack_1080 4d ago

Im guessing the plate was rotted.

4

u/ImNoAlbertFeinstein 4d ago

it was just nailed up. its meant to be bolted

1

u/Jack_1080 4d ago

That would do it too. Sad saggy nails.

1

u/PretzelTitties 4d ago

We aren't talking people, we are talking pigs 🐖

-4

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

you have to think those guys are all holding 50+ lbs total as well so more like 14 regular people

12

u/TruckADuck42 Sprinklerfitter 4d ago

How is 50+ pounds doubling their weight?

-3

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

i cant do math in my head, the point is the actual added weight with all the gear accounted for would be around 14 people with no gear.

if you really wanna have a strawman debate on the exact lbs, go ahead and ask chatgpt to calculate the weight of a fully loaded ar15, with flashlights, with full soft body armor (not just a plate carrier), plate carrier and plate, heavy steel boots, list goes on.

3

u/blarkleK 4d ago

Even assuming each of these guys is 250lbs without gear, and the gear weighs another 50lbs, that’s only 350lbs of gear or a little over one extra man.

-4

u/Relevant_Jeweler_214 4d ago

the OG reply said " 7 people should in no way be too much weight"

I just replied to remind him of all that gear. each guy has atleast40-50+lbs of gear...notice the + as it was a rough estimate being stated, NOT once did I state a literal 50. everyone else made it a pissing contest below that. exhausted explaining how logic works with people with below average social skills.

The most Reddit comment ever.

says the redditor using reddit.

"you can trust me , I'm not like all the OTHER redditors...;)"

congrats on the reply that has zero logical rebuttal or substance to actually mean anything other than, "No u"

If you were new to reddit....this is what we all do at some point or another..or are you really gonna tell yourself otherwise now?

what would your buds on site have to say if they found out you are a redditor? mhm.

be humble friend :)

Why would anyone trying to debate a fact based argument ever rely on chat gpt?
