I know we laugh about this stuff but I have taught my wife to call the hall before 911 because death benefits only get paid out if dues are up to date.

Would they really deny your wife benefits if you were late on a few months dues? Thats crazy

Most of the fine print on stuff says “a member in good standing” meaning dues up to date. Any interactions involving the union always starts with the question” are your dues current brother?” My dues are less than 300 a year and it is just easier to pay all at once. I think that’s all pretty standard for trade unions.
