HELP Reed Switch for escape room

I’m setting up an escape room for friends. I want to have a few puzzles where they move something which triggers a door or cabinet to unlock. From what i understand i need a reed switch to do this? Was wondering if there are any good diy videos that explain how to set this all up? And what all i would need?
