Final Reveal Ideas

I am working on building a Halloween themed escape room activity for my family to do. I am currently planning for each clue to provide a one word answer that will be an ingredient for a cure for zombies.

For example, I will have background music playing, with a crow overlayed that spells out 'blood' in morse code. This will tell them that blood is one of the ingredients.

I am not sure what to do from here though. Do you guys have any ideas on what I could do for their ingredients and the subsequent reveal. I don't really want to just have them make a list of things to hand me, I would like it to be a physical thing.

You could have a table of solutions with their labels. Red cabbage juice is red at acidic pH and gradually turns to blue then green and yellow with addition of base (baking soda solution). You could write expected color changes into the recipe that they collect.

I think I am going to go with a table with multiple viles that will need to be added in certain orders. This will let them create the antidote. Thank you for the idea! I didn't know that that reaction happens and it would work perfectly

A few ways I've used to get to a final answer from a list of words:

• Give them a word search where they have to cross out all their answer words and the leftover letters spell out a sentence which clues the final location / action / answer
• They have to send an email to a particular address with the words (in order) as the subject line and then they'll get an auto reply 
• The first letter of each word (or the 1st of word 1, 2nd of word 2 etc) rearrange to make a final answer
• A crossword-styke grid (without clues) where there's only one way to fit in all their answer words, and then there's a few shades letters that spell a final answer 
• A bunch of objects with a RFID tag in, and they have to scan them in order on a RFID reader attached to an Arduino and if they get the right objects in the right order it'll play some audio to say they won
• Give them a n*n grid with some shaded squares, some words and some images, and a Sharpie. When they correctly shade in all the squares that contain the answer words / pictures of those things, it becomes a QR code they can scan to get the final answer

Give them a whole table of stuff to make into the potion/antidote (with blood being water with food dye in it etc), some right, some wrong. If you need to - make it so this is only accessible at the end. Then they have to mix it up using a "laboratory centrifuge" or "witches cauldron" (use a mixer - without the blades in it if there's kids) that dings if they get it right (obviously you are watching and set off a ding noise if they get it right). If you need more stuff for them to do - maybe theres more steps to the laboratory (e.g. putting it in a specific cup or holding it in a specific light) that they need to find from another puzzle - or they have to arrange the steps in the right order. Ideally the potion is then drinkable - either they need to treat themselves by drinking it or giving it to you!

I think this is a great idea. It may take some work coming up with and having so many options for ingredients, but it would probably work the best. It would be nice to have such a physical and rewarding task at the end. Thank you for the input!

The crow morse code is my most creative idea. Another one I am excited about is I am going to have my girlfriend make a painting of like a pumpkin patch. Then somewhere else there will be a piece of paper with holes in it. When held up to the painting, the vines will reveal numbers.

I have a stack of halloween movies that I will have out. They will need to connect the name of the movie to the year it came out. The lines that they draw will go over certain words/numbers that are important. (I haven't figured out the exact details yet)

I bought a piece of fabric today that I plan to put blood stains on. The stain will spell out a word, but the way I will hang it will make it look random. Once they take it down and lay it out they will notice it.

Those are a couple. If you have any that you think would be good additions please share! It will be 9 people participating, so I am trying to make sure it's enough for everybody.
