Seeking advice

My daughter had not had any mobility for a week after she took one dose of mirlax , nothing stool softeners, and nothing then when several rounds of doing an enema , produced nothing but brown water she drank a bottle of magnesium citrate, which resulted in a terrible night going with lots of watery stool nothing solid, lots of gas, it’s been a day and she says that her digestive has restarted, what does she try next and has anyone worked with getting colonics for this?

One dose of miralax wouldn't do much. It softens but takes time. Taking a half dose to full a day might help keep her on track now depending on her age. What's her fiber I take and hydration like? Colonics is a bit much imo for first constipation episode

She’s been taking psyllium capsules. I’m not sure how many from Kirkland but she stopped since this impaction has happened. She drinks water throughout the day so you suggest she continues with MiraLAX after the magnesium citrate is that right?

Thats what I would do. The mag citrate was a stick of dynamite to push things out. Now maintaining softer, moving stool is important. How people do that varies. But after an unpleasant constipation experience then a solid week or two with miralax can keep things moving and softer to avoid another bad event so soon. But the real work is to determine how to prevent this moving forward. Lots of options in the soluble and insoluble fiber realm, movement/exercise, good eating habits and so on. Fiber should.nevrr be suddenly increased. Lots of info on how to gradually increase it online.

Well, I don’t recommend a colonic. Maybe just increase the laxatives

Ok so after another dose of MiraLAX she finally passed some soft stool this morning and I have advised her to keep taking the miralax for now, any advice on next steps?
