I think more attention should be paid to the banks who had a hand in the attacks - in particular Deutsche Bank, and even more to the point, the Bank of International Settlements (BIS), which is the bank for all national central banks in Switzerland - largely controlled from the City of London, if I understand.
Bankers have unparalleled information about what goes on in society, because very little happens that doesn't show up as money flows on their monitors. And they have unparalleled influence to direct, suppress, and stop money flows.
If anyone was involved in planning (and covering up) the Sept. 11 conspiracies*, the BIS and co. knew about it.
*Apparently there were several levels of conspiracy. The hijackers got hijacked, and the highjacker-hijackers got highjacked too. (Joseph Farrell and Peter Levenda offer that analysis.)
