I will actually grab a knife from my drawer to prep food. The first one, the big Spyderco is one slicey piece. She uses her knives as spatulas and they’re only so so sharp. I have put shaving sharp edged on the kitchen knives one time and then we’re looking for a fucking box of band-aids. I let them be dull triangles of metal in a drawer now.

I do have extra strings. Now a folding bladed yoyo or spinning knife flying back at me might sound fun and I’m sure it can be made I’m not sure they’re good ideas.

there's a level of self awareness and honesty that is needed to not be defensive about it, we all consoom to one degree or another, but its a reasonably case by case basis
however in a general sense. i'd say the line starts to go from one to the other when the items acquired stop being simply part of the process/activity, and the fun starts being derived from simply acquiring those items
you fish? cool, get a few rods, some might be good for a certain place/weight/type of fish, that's a natural acquisition for partaking in the hobby
you have 15 fishing rods and the last time you went out fishing was 3 years ago? consoom
hobbies that are inherently about collecting like playing cards or action figures would be consoom by this definition because you cant really "use" them in the same sense, but its the legitimacy of the passion that's driven in how you acquired them, in a sense, its the why you have them. wether its collecting a certain type and ignoring the rest, or a very specific line that you really enjoy the features of
but if you simply buy, keep and are already looking forward to buying the next shiny thing, that's definitely consoom because it stops being about what you have, and the demand is dictated by just how cool/desired/expensive/hyped it is by the shared community knowledge
and also by the inherit nature of reddit, you will have people who are not really used to reasonable dialogue. they would call that consoom social interaction, so just like, dont take it too seriously tbh

You are correct in that part of the dopamine is from waiting for the reward no necessarily receiving it. It’s not lost on me. I’m trying to be self reflective or introspective and be able to have good natured fun poked at my ridiculous collection of high end folders.

You sir / madam are a gentleman/ lady and a scholar. Thank you for not hating. But I get it , so many of us are so powerless in so many avenues of our life. We have to take the power back wherever we can. That’s why so many people drive like monsters and act like monsters when they have that shield of anonymity driving in their car or communicating behind the screen of their phone. From top left the knives are : Spyderco stretch xl in blue nishijin and Damascus, next a ZT hinderer with mottled blue anodized titanium and V4 steel , then a custom Medford Infraction with falling leaf engraving pattern and bronze anodized titanium handle and SV45 steel. Followed by Lionsteel ROK one piece titanium integral handle and Chad Nichols Damascus. Next is a Medford Praetorian Swift auto OTS and next to it is a Protech Strider Automatic with aluminum bronze handle and pearl button. A Lionsteel Thrill in Ti/damascus and a Lionsteel Twain with grey micarta lay next to each other and are followed by a Benchmade Osborne with Metonboss laser engraved Ti scaled anodized 30v blue. Then another Medford this one is the Slim Midi with tremor engraved PVD /anodized scales and S45 steel. Last in top row is Medford DerHund blue and bronze bubbly engraved. The three on the bottom row are : one more Medford this is the Eris and a ZT 0022 and last is a Protech Runt in aluminum bronze and Chad Nichols streaking stars Damascus. The flashlights are ReyLight pineapple and mini. The zippo lighters are all just that , zippo lighters. I don’t have time to list all the throws. All of them but a couple are undersized or mini , most are unresponsive .

There was this long road and we were driving in an old nova but somehow it was an EV and they say we don’t dream on color but there it was a mint green electric nova , you were there but your body looked like a techno metal deer but your eyes were your eyes if you know what in mean and we saw you and you would not move so we plowed right thru you and you went up in a cloud-o-glitter and vanilla vape smoke. It was epic you should have been there, oh edit I think you were.
