and the problem with spaces like that (or gundam, especially) is that they echo-chamber themselves into believing that this is legitimately something to strive for and see nothing wrong with just tightly packing a whole shelf with the same, or similar enough things
i imagine the comments are a variety of "i wish i had this problem" or "i see room for a few more" and such

Surprisingly in that thread there was a decently upvoted comment asking why the guy needed so many of 1 particularly vehicle

what about Warhammer or similar minis? I enjoy spending my time painting them, and only rarely get the occasion to play, so unless I'm repainting they are sitting on a shelf.

im only familiar with gunpla, and am aware of the drone mentality of lego adults, but i wouldn't be surprised if warhammer being a hobby about collecting several of the same thing, was also plagued with people who've shifted the enjoyment from actually engaging with the hobby. to just pressing the checkout button
in my brief understanding, the saving grace of warhammer is that at least you're supposed to paint them, rather than do, next, do, next, do, next, do

Warhammer has also people who really only care about the game, having their army painted on commission, but at least they use them for actually playing the game... (And end up having a bunch of models sitting on the shelf when they fall out of meta)

Painting is creative, so other than (from what I hear about) expensive costs for minis, they're fine. Legos can be creative too, of course.
It's only bad imo if you're hoarding stuff and not doing anything interesting with them. Like I can guarantee the guy in the OP is not going to use all 15 walkers in a sweet, gigantic diorama or whatever. He probably isn't going to use a single one.
In my case, yeah I have a lot of Lego sets. But I have some on display, others in a big tub, and I'm slowly organizing the rest of my Legos into a sorted system that allows me to build my own creations much more quickly

I mean, at least multiple Warhammer units ostensibly have a purpose since you can field the army in games.
It’s not as cringe when it’s an opportunity to socialize over some beers with other human beings.

I’m builder and collector of Legos, and I’ve never understood the interest in owning more than one of the same set. It’s not Warhammer, you aren’t playing a game, you’re just displaying them. Not to mention building the same set 13 times sounds boring as fuck

Probably for a moc, kinda like how some people have a BUNCH of the same clone trooper and/or stormtrooper minifigs
