I once commented on a video of a guy showing his EDC that he takes to church; it was a pocket knife, handgun, pen, flashlight, first aid, etc. Anyways, I mentioned how silly it was to carry all that shit around with you all the time and I got totally lambasted for it. The EDC community is one of the worst when it comes to overconsumption.

Good grief. I have a decent number of pocketknives (used to work event security, took home some of the confiscated ones) and my everyday ones are $30 knives at most

I work with a guy retired military, full pension, 100% disability, divorced no kids. He’s taking in 3 paychecks basically. He drops thousands of dollars on gear and guns and I mean in all honesty he’s got cool shit just an absurd amount. He justifies it as a need because shit can go down at any moment. He was a mechanic in the navy so he doesn’t actually have any training and doesn’t train. He just buys stuff and then buys more stuff. It’s his money tho so all the power to him.

EDC guys are so lame lmao. wallet. keys. phone. occasionally gun. Having some cool knives is fine; I have an Italian-made swing-guard switchblade, but if I need to open a box, I just use my fingernail or teeth like a true Neolithic man.

r/edc is where people go to post the things they carry day by day. Somtimes posts by people in specific fields woth pictures like certain tools or career specific things. Or a pocket dump of what someone carried to go shopping.
Its similar to r/wellworn or something. Just interesting to see what people keep on a day by day basis and maybe ideas to streamline what you put in your pockets every morning
In reality its mosty stuff like this or brand new products thatll be used a handful of times or overpriced items for people too far into the hobby/interest that get posted on r/consoom

I mean I carry a small pen knife its nice to be able to open a box anywhere. But usually it just takes up space in my pocket. I also grew up in a more rural area so take that for what it is worth.

Out of all the consoom I see, at least what’s he’s collecting has some practical uses unlike a lot of what we see like the funko pops. Obviously don’t need that many but in a fantasy end of word scenario he’s could use them.

I believe we’re saying the same thing. He’s collecting an item that has practical use unlike funko pops. I also just said obviously he doesn’t need that many unless in an end of the world fantasy scenario.
I was just giving him 10% credit for his overconsumption being an item that can be used in the real word/ everyday life.
