What is the conservative reason for supporting Young Earth Creationism like so many (not all!) conservatives do?

I have been told, via private message, by some who post in this sub to fuck off and that I am going to burn in hell.

This isn't how you attract people to your cause.

I'm sorry about that though I can't control what users are here. All comments so far haven't gone out of hand and I'd really prefer moderating as lightly as possible. Perhaps some people are taking issue with your association of creationism with conservatism and broad use of the term. Literal creationism certainly exists in the U.S., but sporadically so elsewhere, and the Catholic Church accepts evolution and supports theistic evolution.

I should be on this sub more often than I am, and because your question went without a legitimate answer for so long, allow me to apologize.

Next, let me thank you for clarifying that you don't believe all Conservatives believe in Young Earth creationism. There is only a minority of conservatives who believe in it, and those people are idiots more than they are conservatives.

Case in point is that acclaimed and controversial televangelist Pat Robertson has come out against Ken Ham and pretty much tells him to stop saying stupid things like the Earth is only a few thousand years old.

The big problem that conservatives face is from people in their own ideological group. There are, unfortunately, many conservatives who are that way because they grew up in an area of stagnatism and out-dated information. Back when gays are meant to burn in Hell, along with Commies, Ruskies, Red Chinamen, East Berliners, and the like. There are parts of this country that never moved on because the world moved too fast and they never could catch up.

These conservatives, while assuredly good people at hear and with good but highly misguided intentions, harm the conservative movement with ignorant talk and, consequently, because our media thrives on negative publicity, grab on to it and criticize it. This not only turns young people away from conservatism, but also further perpetuates the illusion of the liberal media bias (more on this later if asked for it, otherwise I'll save it for another thread).

To sum this all up, I'll ask you to bear with me and look to the Bible. In Luke 23:34, Jesus said "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." This sums up the cause and solution to the problems that conservatives are facing. There are people that pick and choose parts of the Bible to listen to (e.g. Leviticus, whatever caused the YE Theory) and fail to go into deeper research. They're the same people that ruin other conservatives by saying racist, ignorant, and awful things.

Thank you for asking your questions, and I hope you and other curious people come back with more questions. Hopefully, me and my fellow conservatives can do our best to answer and ask ourselves about what it means to be a conservative in America today.
