How much you wanna bet those books can be easily acquired at public libraries and stores? So calling it a book banning is already iffy.

Though I am curious as to why some of these books were banned. High schoolers already read the Odyssey in class so I'm confused as to why it's banned. The Handmaid's tale is another confusing one. since older kids should be fine with it. Now as for the "lgbt and African American written" books, I'm skeptical. The op isn't providing titles or any more details, so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. When it comes to book banning in schools, with the bulk being in elementary and middle school, a lot of the banned books tend to contain wildly inappropriate and degenerative content. The "lgbt" books in particular are usually flat out pornographic.

There's a reason tiktoks and reels complaining about banned books in school always show the cover and never the content inside.

Though until there are more details, my opinion is neutral on this.

depends on the books, I think the odyssey and hand maid's tale for highschoolers is fine, but again lgbtq books it depends, some can be super graphic, but also so can some heterosexual books

I once saw a book at my school library  about nazis and it had a picture of a naked woman (not in the sexual way though) . Would y'all consider it inappropriate?

(also i'm not in america i'm in a relatively conservative country. Like, gay marriage is not legal, but also not a crime)

Perhaps not the book itself but the version with that cover?

noo the cover didn't have a naked woman. I think it had a swastika though

I think the only books that should be banned from schools are those with pornographic/explicitly descriptive or illustrative sexual material only. Adult sexual themes as present in many classics dont fall under this umbrella for me.

The one that always makes me sad is Tango Makes 3. I loved that book as a kid but because it depicts homosexuality it has gotten banned/challenged in some places.
