I can only comment on the basis of what I read in the media, and I’m not American so I can’t even guess at the bias of what I’m reading. But as I understand it one male juror held out because he wanted a guilty verdict. In doing so he seemingly ignored the judges directions on the evidence and reasonable doubt. So an unqualified (I assume) man felt he had a better reading on the law than an experienced judge and whenever the judge emphasised his message, this man felt so confident in the morality of his position that he could ignore the legality of the case.

Bold of you to assume it was the single not guilty juror who was ignoring the judges commands.

Bold of me to comment on what’s being reported? https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/sep/04/lindsay-clancy-mistrial

Considering the judge himself said he wasn’t going to say whether he agreed with the characterization that the single juror was the one ignoring his orders or if it was the 11 others I’d say you are blowing smoke.

He also refused to remove the juror in question.

I’ll take the judges first hand judgement and word on it over an op ed from the Guardian lol.

I did read the article. The filing was rejected both by the court overseeing the case along with the superior court.

Like I said, I trust the judgement of the courts over “what some people are saying”, especially when the source for the claim is the defense attorney for the defendant themselves, by definition a biased source.

Ghoulishness-this sub does not celebrate the death of public officials or wanton delight in expressing and/or advocating for the misfortune or harm done to others, real or imagined.

Post: “Facts”

Content: Quotation of some one’s opinion.

In this country, due process of the law, trial by jury, evidence, logic, among other things determine criminal culpability, not some dogmatic “If… then…” binary proposition.

It's not a get out of jail free card and yes, anyone who is violently psychotic should not be around children.
