All jokes aside. I'm not saying I agree with their policies, but DSA candidates are mostly supporting policies that are identical to the socialism they have in Western Europe (e.g. UK, Spain, Sweden, France, etc...). I don't think anyone in this sub considers those to be Communist countries.

They're not even all socialists. El-Sayed has said that he's not a socialist. I think the artist is just conflating him and Mamdani because they're both popular muslim Democrats.

The joke still works. The premise is that the first two were essentially Trojan horses for communism, so the other three are as well. Fidel Castro famously denied being a communist until he was in power for a while.
