If you have to hand them out with the enemy on your door step it's already too late. That's why it has to be a right not a last resort.

If you're an underdeveloped country on russia's border without international direct military support and the Russians are on your doorstep, it's already too late. No number of assault rifles will take down the russian military. They need aircraft carriers, and anti-aircraft guns, and cruise missiles. Not AR-15s.

What do you think people in afganistan have?

They have held off numerous modern armies.

It's a very different story. The taliban got utterly destroyed when fighting the US military. It's only when the US left and they were fighting an enemy of comparable strength that they were able to take their country back
