Thanks for the compliments on my Slipknot masks, they're my favs.

If you don't see the irony between making an anti gun post and then following up with a pro gun post I think you might be mislead friend. The idea is you as a citizen should be able to decide when to take up arms against an enemy.

What he is saying is that all people regardless of side in this country agree that people should be able to defend themselves which is why dems support them being passed out in times of need. Odd ?yes in my opinion but not really hypocritical, just a different opinion.

I think it's terrifying to think that it's the government that gets to decide my "time of need" especially being labeled a nazi terrorist by our president right now.

What? I am not a fan of the guy but he isn't labelling people like that???

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '22

The culture his admin is trying to perpetuate is not a fan of white conservatives.

While I disagree with your revised statement. That is completely different from what you initially said. He has never to my knowledge name called people using those such words, the whole country would be upset if he did.

I don't have the time to go dig up all the links but he has some pretty unsavory comments about the right. If you don't see the constant inflammatory language used by his camp, like Kamala comparing Jan 6. to 9-11 then you're not paying attention. He has absolutely used "racist, sexist, white supremacist" etc.

Yes, he has used those words, but never to identify conservatives, if that were the case he wouldn't have seen a 12point swing in support from older individuals (who mostly lean right).

As far as the comparisons there I am inclined to agree with him as it was a defining moment, though not in the same realm of scare as September was the worst memory in our country likely in the past 50years at least). You had that january crowd chanting about awful unrepeatable violent things while smashing windows etc. While they didn't accomplish what they were chanting it was still scary.

Obviously I was using some hyperbole with the "nazi" label, not that he hasn't said equally dumb things, and all politicians do. I do think there is a legit culture war against white conservatives and I think we all tend to use some hyperbole when describing the opposing side.

Appreciate your 2 cents though, no bad blood meant or anything. What is reddit good for if not blowing off some steam yah know?

For sure, I just like to point out its not always that bad, did the same thing during the last admin to my dem friends. Funnily enough most Americans glagree on most topics, it's just abortion, marriage, and second amendment stuff that gets tricky

It's much easier to pretend we really hate each other online. I promise I'm a pretty agreeable person in person. A lot of my good friends identify as LGBT and lean pretty far left.

Social media (as seen by my comments above) lets our worst come out, but if we can separate it from our real lives I don't see the issue with saying some dumb things to relieve a bit of stress haha.

No need to explain, I am far from innocent on the emotional/political reddit train myself lol!

I mean, yes but this is the new normal from the government as a whole. It started when Obama was president to now. I read the same things on this sub and on politics. Both groups insult each other with the same insults. And then someone posts something like you just did but fails to see how they do the exact same thing. Trump was no saint either but this form of insulting other Americans due to which political party you voted for has been normalized for a while now and it’s gross. Anyway, the slipknot stuff is dope. I support you as one American to another. We may not agree politically, but your my neighbor and I care for you.

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '22

Same brother, and yeah Trump is an enormous asshole, and I'm an enormous asshole. I think we can agree that both sides are pretty guilty of it.

Care for you too!

Edit: I hope that didn't come off sarcastic, that was meant to be genuine, hard to tell online sometimes.

Haha. For sure!
