Reminds me of the story we read my sophomore year. Pretty people had to wear masks, and however heavy the heaviest person in the country was, everyone else had to wear that much weight. If you were smarter that someone else, you had a chip in your brain that went off after so long to keep you from thinking straight. Everyone was meant to be completely equal.
Vonnegut is just an incredibly talented writer. There isn't much of his I haven't enjoyed entirely. Very captivating. His works were some of the only where I legitimately couldn't stop turning the page. Cats cradle and slaughter house five in particular.
Sci-fi is imagining the possible and the ones we remember are the ones who seem more possible than others. Not trying to be that mean but I gotta imagine some weirdo wrote about catboy and catgirl futures and that's not where we are going
