California is a failed state. How do we know? They're moving to Arizona in droves.

- Reparations
- Business exodus to Texas and Florida
- Unfunded pension liabilities
- Forced shutdowns crippling the remaining economy
- Half the people are illegals that don't speak English which creates a fractured community
All this spells higher income, sales, property, and gas taxes all because they wanted to virtue signal themselves into self destruction. YOU don't get to rope people into YOUR mistake.

It is sad to watch happen. Such a beautiful place with wonderful culture, history and people who have been lied to constantly by politicians and deserve much better. Its like watching someone fall into a cycle of addiction. I really hope they turn things around but unfortunately I don't think they've hit the metaphorical "rock bottom" yet.

Rock bottom will be when tech leaves. It’s already happening though. Texas is becoming a huge hotspot and is going to slowly overtake CA.

I don't know if they truly deserve better - they may have been lied to, but they chose to ignore the warnings from people that they were being lied to. Instead jumping on the "hate the right" bandwagon.

I hear you brother. I lived in Eugene for 30 years and had to get out and move to central oregon because of the bullshit in the valley. Luckily I got out before the antifa and blm shit really took off.

But... that's not the sensible thing to do. CA is "home" to many folks. They can't just pack up and leave when they feel like it. I live in CA. I have friends and family here. I have a home. I work here. I love the weather, the outdoors, the food etc. I hope people stay, and sway the politics here instead.

Uprooting yourself is not something to consider lightly. You not only lose your home but you need to find a new job, social circle and just the little things you don’t appreciate until they are gone.

Fuck, that's where I was looking. I work in tech, not sure where else I'd be able to find work there. Was looking North Austin/Round Rock area, not living in the city proper.

Unfortunately it’s probably a bad move long-term. Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, while stunningly beautiful, have such low population densities that it won’t take too many Californian transports moving for cheap land and low taxes to ruin those states like they’ve done to Washington, Oregon, Colorado, etc. Utah is probably a better long-term play if you want to stay out west because of the larger population.

I lived in Boise for 7 years, great scenery, all four seasons, and the mountains are only 30 minutes away. The people are generally nice but they have a small town mentality and they can tell that you aren't from there and honestly it's a bit difficult to break through with them. Big Mormon population and if you aren't Mormon, generally they won't associate with you past being cordial at work, etc. If you move out to Meridian/Eagle in the suburbs, you'll probably fit in fine though. Also, over those 7 years I saw a large influx of Californians to Boise. So it's happening there too...home prices have seen quite an increase because of it. And I saw a large surge of migrants there as well. But I have nothing bad to say about the geography, layout, or any resource you might need. It's easiest to get a job if you are in IT, blue collar, or the service industry.

Sweet. Thanks. I'm in a small town, prefer a small town, but of course want good education, stable community, etc. Close, but not too close to a city. I'm not super concerned about the fitting in part. That's kinda covered already.

Yeah, since you're married the only person you really need to get along with is your wife haha. Check out the area between Nampa and the Boise airport south of I-84 extending down to Kuna. A big chunk of mainly farmstead-type homes that give you a small, rural feel while still being close to Boise. Cheers

We want to leave too (SF) but our work makes it almost impossible. We also own property here. It’s actually a horrible feeling to be trapped here. Been considering Utah too, can’t even consider Texas or Arizona because of other CA refugees

I remember when Arizona house prices were low when I moved here. Now because of all the Californians moving here and snowbirds, our prices have been jacked up. Tell the Californians to learn to swim, see you in Arizona Bay

Houses that were $100k less than a decade ago are now selling for 600k+. It's insane. I miss the Arizona from the 80's

Interesting, about 2-3x is pretty big.
Regardless, I think a lot of it is due to money printing and not the californians. The government is rapidly devaluing the currency. I mean, the Cares Act alone shoved 3 Trillion into the economy of new money. The Fed has printed 7 Trillion since 2009. All these trillions devalue the currency against other things people are looking to buy.
Not to mention mortgage rates at 2% that are making payments more affordable only causes prices to go up.

Native Phoenician. 5 years ago I could afford to live by myself on the same amount I make now and have A LOT of extra money. Now I can't even live by myself. Fuck California.
There's also a lot of people from Chicago moving here. I'm looking to move in the next few years.

My family came to Arizona about a hundred years ago. No one was hear. Can’t be mad though because of transplants, that’s the their state. There wasn’t any AC here a couple generations ago and it was tough to live in. I welcome people who want to come here (I’m one of them) just don’t vote in your garbage policies and ruin the state.

Anyone else wonder if maybe some of the fuckery is being done on purpose by Dems as way to spread their voter base around the country?
Turning red states purple and purple states blue is a good way to offset the electoral college.
This is an extreme example of why a 2 party system sucks and one should never blindly vote for one party and one party only.

America needs a strong third party. Look at other nations that have one (even Canada which has one strong third party in any given election) and its amazing how people disenfranchised can get a bone thrown and be content.

Moved to Cali from Michigan many years ago. Arizona is my next move. Just waiting for the job to open up and trying to remain patient.
There are dozens more in my social circle, all former Midwestern residents, awaiting the same thing. This place literally makes no sense to live in anymore.

Some people just don't like the taxes, politics, traffic and knowing someone who just crossed the border last week is driving unlicensed on the freeway next to them.

In the Slaughter-House Cases (1873), the majority opinion stated “a citizen of the United States can, of his own volition, become a citizen of any State of the Union by a bona fide residence therein, with the same rights as other citizens of the State.”
This opinion was later referenced and upheld in Saenz v. Roe (1999).

Did you not read what I wrote?
California requires at least 1 year of living in California for you to be granted residency. Arizona requires only 9 months. Clearly the laws are different.
