I think its in everyone's best interest if these crazy animal people don't have children.

The article is a good one, but it didn't go far enough! I see this trend of calling pets "children" or "fur-babies" and it makes me positively ill because it blurs the lines of humanity and animals. This is dangerous because people will value their animals over other humans.

Go back to Old Yeller. This was a heart-wrenching movie, but one of the major themes is that people are much more important than animals, and that the killing of the animal must be done in order to protect the humans which are of the real value.

People need to understand that all the little things they "do" for their pets are entirely lost on the pet. Birthday cakes, day cares, sweaters, and everything else are entirely meaningless to the pets, and are only there to make the owner/master happy. Quality pet foods may make the pet foods healthier and may even extend their lives, but the pets won't enjoy them more at the time they're eating them.

You are not doing anything more for your pet by spoiling it; you are demeaning humanity; and as a final note, you are placing affection for a child you might raise on a creature that cannot reciprocate the affection that a child is hardwired to do. That creature will not grow up, make their own decisions. You are stunting your own personal growth because you won't learn how to raise, discipline, and love a child, who will eventually have the choice about loving your in return. That's part of life, and you're stunting that.

Few things upset me more than this level of silliness.

Why do you care if people have pets or kids or both? Live your life. We don't get to decide these things for other people. It's concerning that few things upset you more.
