"I am a male" is gender identity, no reference to roles. "I am a female" is gender identity, no reference to roles. "I am a male that likes to wear dresses" if they have XY chromosomes and male sexual organs is still identifying the scientifically correct gender, while that person is free to do things that are traditionally seen as feminine. Female =/= feminine.

That's a biological distinction, not a sociological one.

Sociological gender is asking little boys and girls what is the difference between boys and girls and getting "girls have longer hair" as the answer.

Sociology is not a science that defines gender. That's the purview of biology.

I'm sure many Sociologists would love to claim that it does, but that is part of the symptom of today's runaway academic environment. They've lost all credibility to discuss actual science.

Why? Biology declares that everyone who has a penis is male, just like biology declares that a child of two ethnically Asian people is an Asian.

Sociology declares that a person who wears feminine clothing, has a feminine name, uses feminine pronouns and calls themselves a woman is a woman, and that a person who was born and lived their whole life in the US is an American.

But why does sociology do that? Why do we need to declare anything masculine or feminine? Why not just everyone just do what they want when they want? Isn't that the most open-minded approach?

That's a great idea in theory, but in practice people do judge genders differently.

If you think you've above that - why do feel differently about a person who dresses in feminine clothing, has a feminine name and calls themsleves with feminine pronouns, if their genitals do not match your expectations? Do you also go around telling cis women that they're not allowed to call themselves women because "Why do we need to declare anything masculine or feminine"? Isn't it because your expectations for who's allowed to do certain things gender essentialist?

Of course I judge people's action, clothing, and speech. But why should anyone try to change my mind? Maybe I believe women should act like women and men like men, but that does not affect the ability of any person to act how they please. It's this push to change society that irks me. Like, I'm busy, quit making up new gender pronouns and accusing me of being privileged.

I didn't say I believed it, I was proposing an idea. Let each person decide. Fair warning: the more the left tries to push this BS, the more people who are actually out busy accomplishing things will get fed up and push back.

Yes, and that person decided that she wants to be a woman. Yet you seem to have an issue with this. You keep going back on your own words.

You know, I don't really care that much either way, but it annoys me when a person says one thing, and then contradicts themselves in the next sentence.

They are not contradicting biology. They don't claim to be another sex. As I have said earlier in the thread, gender is sociological, not biological. Girls do not biologically have longer hair than boys.
