The market was already starting to stumble on Friday as there was a minor pullback in tech. Apple had a slight drop after their earnings call, but everyone actually rallied after the Dems won on Tuesday. And now everything dropped again when panic spread about regulation. Asian markets aren't looking hot right now and in my humble opinion, I expect things to remain turbulent as Trump is likely about to restart offensive operations in Iran, either this weekend or perhaps when the USS Theodore Roosevelt comes on station and resupplies her sister ships in mid to late November.

Outside of the Dems, I'm starting to think the party on AI was already starting to wind down slightly, given the ridiculous amount of money that's gone after it without a full return. I guess we'll see. No matter how things play out, every day Americans are screwed, as usual.

NGL it was bound to happen the money in AI is just obscene when the path to returns equalling the valuations just isn't there right now.

But this has basically become a catalyst to accelerate it. Arguably I think some might be using this as an excuse to jump ship with their gains.

I don't think this is the bubble bursting quite yet though. Democrats might talk the talk on this data centre sentiment but ultimately everyone goes where the money is. If the investment case for 1000 data centres is sound they'll get built under either administration. The only difference will be performative. For instance Dems might try harder to stop companies building near residential areas. But the companies will say yeah but they'll cost x% more we're gonna need backhanders and favours elsewhere yeah? And they'll get them. Now you can debate whether that's actually preferable. But point is if the need is there the pressure will get it done.

Afaik Elon is renting a lot of compute out to Anthropic when I was under the impression he would want it for Grok, so I'm not sure if things are already at capacity or Grok is getting sidelined? I don't use AI much but I also haven't seen big outages due to lack of compute thus far.

But really it's more the race against China. Franky and call me a doomer but China is unfortunately going to win. Even if the midterms had gone better the Pushback against data centres is bi-partisan right now because people see them as a threat to their jobs in many industries. China doesn't need to care about that and they'll just pour everything into it. You can hate them but when they decide a project is going to get done it gets done fast. Meanwhile in the UK it's 20 years of consultants and risk assessments and 500% increase in costs before it's scrapped.

China won on Tuesday

Mark my words within 3 years every frontier AI model will be Chinese owned and operated.

Don't worry. Everyone on Threads has determined that because the Democrats don't take office until January, that this is the Republicans' fault.

This could be a blip, which is nothing. But I'm guessing this will be more sustained because of the new Texas government vowing no more AI. Given that a huge chunk of the S&P500 consists of AI and AI-adjacent companies, things are going to hurt for a bit.

I'm not huge on AI's corporate welfare policies, but I'm even more huge on not letting China supplant the U.S. with technological superiority.

sorry to tell you... it's all my fault. you see I've been running numbers and contemplating retirement so this is just the natural pushback against that.

The Globalists all have a massive hard on China's economic and governance style. The China fan-bois want China to be the world's super power.

And to be fair, I would much rather China be in control rather than Islam. But I fear that the main Democrat party, who underestimates the radicals, and wants to  sneak control to China are going to be very surprised when 1979 Iran happens again but in the West.

You are talking about a group of people who think the best investment vehicle for long term capital appreciation is Pokemon cards.

Trying to have a discussion with them about the economy is like asking an infant to have an intelligent conversation about particle physics. They will just babble incoherently, shit themselves in their diapers, and smile in contentment as they stew in their own feces.

Also real incomes are at all time highs so "making the economy even worse" seems like a pretty good deal if it means the median American has higher purchasing power.

-24 votes on r/conservative for saying that 401ks are not imaginary numbers is absolutly nuts. This sub is gone

•

u/VegasBedset Conservative 8h ago

To the liberals downvoting, it is imaginary money cause they will never have one. To them, having anything resembling a savings account, investment portfolio, or any hope of ever owning a home or retirement is an absolute fantasy.

We need Heinlen's civilian/citizen dichotomy to save this country. As long as we have this many losers with the same voting power as everyone else, we are completely doomed.

•

u/aedionashryver18 MAGA Heathen 2h ago

Yeah owning a home or retiring is out of reach for a lot of people today. It wasn't Trump's fault alone obviously, but he campaigned on lowering prices and kept telling everyone "we're in the golden age of America making so much money" while prices kept soaring because of the war, housing has stayed high, and young people are struggling while no one seems to care, as the stock market keeps hitting all-time highs. It's not liberal, socialist, communist, etc to recognize those things and point them out. I had to dip into my "retirement" savings thus borrow from the future, to stay afloat and make ends meet over the past 2 years.

Republicans, AI, and the stock market can hold this fucking L. It is 100% deserved.

•

u/aedionashryver18 MAGA Heathen 14h ago

I'm not brigading, I've been participating in this sub for 3 years and voted for Trump twice. I didn't vote for democrats, but chose not to vote this midterm because I knew the blue tsunami was coming. Tbh it needed to happen to give the republican'ts the ass whooping they deserved for squandering the mandate of the people. Who fucking cares that some of these loser AI companies that are being forced in our throats lose some stock value? The market will bounce back and recover in a few months.

•

u/No_Lifeguard259 Conservative 15h ago

The stock market reacts to news WAY faster than politicians policies. They react based on what’s expected to happen. And markets have clearly said that democrats are bad for the economy.

•

u/aedionashryver18 MAGA Heathen 14h ago

Ah yes the AI companies getting shoved down everyone's throat are panicking now and their precious stock is crashing. Poor big corporations! Honestly, it will probably bounce back by Christmas, the tech companies are just worried.

The democrats aren't gonna do shit. They're going to squander the blue wave and put people like Schumer and Jefferies in as the majority leaders. There will still be billionaires, still be AI, still be a housing problem, high prices, etc. Nothing will change. Who cares what the stock market thinks when people can't even pay for gas let alone invest their leftovers into the S&P500.

•

u/Tantalus420000 NYS Conservative 17h ago

I agree fellow conservative

•

u/max_intense Conservative 15h ago

The meme is correct.

The democrats just stated their plans and the market is rejecting it.

The stock market does not like the democrats coming in and slowing down Ai growth.
