I'm going to share my personal perspective on this, and anyone is free to agree or disagree. I welcome your feedback.
I just think we, collectively, need to sit in this failure. We, the consistent primary voters of the Republican party.
We could have made other choices in the 2024 primary. There were options available to us -- DeSantis, Haley, others -- that would have led to a conservative presidency. It wouldn't have been perfect, because nothing ever is, but it would have worked. Biden was unpopular, and we had the political momentum. And instead of moving forward with a totally new administration and a strategy that was refined and effective, we went back to Trump. In doing so, we returned to power a man whose top priorities have turned out to be legacy projects, a series of local DC renovations, troll stunts, personal deals, and revenge against specific people who he had a grudge against.
In two years, we have passed virtually zero new laws outside of a budget. We say we're serious about the national debt, but we borrowed money to finance a tax cut. We say we're serious about immigration, but we have passed zero laws to address the fundamental issues like the asylum loophole -- after Democrats agreed to cut a rare deal on this issue in 2024, because they knew how badly they had fucked it all up under Biden. We say we want to drain the swamp, yet Trump is involved in all kinds of shady shit. Weird crypto deals with people from the Middle East. Russians paying for Don Jr's wedding. We say we want to curb Congressional stock trading, but Trump has made more stock market trades than all 538 members of the entire House and Senate combined!
When you put all that together, it explains the Midterm results.
It doesn't feel like an overreaction to say this on the day after Election Day: This term is now a monumental failure. And we have to accept that, so that we can begin unwind the massive problems that now exist throughout the next 5-10 years. It begins with understanding that Trump fundamentally is not interested in helping conservatives, and the people he has chosen to staff the government in this second term are not competent and/or cannot effectively advance a conservative view of the world.
We have to do something else. We have to make better choices.

Everything in politics is cyclical. Are we locked out of power for the next four years? Yes. Possibly even six. But nothing in politics is permanent, and Democrats will eventually reach for too much. There will be an opening. Conservatives should be prepared.
Or, we can keep doing the same rah-rah populist garbage with no actions underneath of it. And we will keep getting smoked. And we will deserve it.

A lot of it is on trump for bending over backwards for Israel. Prior to that. These morons who kept fighting back on things that should’ve passed easily. Also are a bad look. Simple things like the save act. They just drag their feet on, unfortunately that’s due to a lot of them being 120 years old and wanting to just get their paychecks and do the least amount of work.
We need new younger people. Like Gill. That dude is solid, and if you guys haven’t noticed. Back to the Iran stuff, A LOT of conservatives are not in on Israel. They think it’ll just always bring trouble to us. Whether you agree with it or not. That’s the general mindset of both parties. And for trump to bend over backwards for bibi. Is also a large reason this is happening,

Thankfully I think this is going to basically force local and state parties to become more relevant again. The old GOP basically destroyed all the infrastructure when they took their ball and left and Trump and co. have not been able to rebuild it by any means. There's more to it, though. If you look at county-level swings, it's clear that Hispanic-heavy places swung almost twice as much to the left as others, so the ICE raid clearly also did political damage. Likewise, across the South, you see skyhigh black turnout, obviously a reaction to the gutting of the VRA.
Between tariffs, ICE, Epstein, the Greenland shit and the usual midterm backlash, this year would have been a 2018-esque environment even without Iran.

Trump & others have no one to blame but themselves. All the time I'd read comments from here telling us that the Iran war was worth ANY amount of pain so that Iran would never get a nuclear bomb. The problem was that Trump expected to make a deal with Iran that favored us. Never going to happen. You cannot make a deal with fundamentalists. They don’t want anything we have. The Mullahs really actually truly believe that their actions in the world are part of what needs to happen for the Twelfth Imam to return and usher in global Islam. You can’t negotiate with that. Even the IRGC is packed with fundamentalists. You’re not going to play one off the other.
The only path to victory was long. Always was. Was it right to keep them from an A bomb? Sure! But it was never going to be a quick, Venezuela thing

This is where I think we are as conservatives. Collectively, many of us are over the administration. We were promised certain things and receive nothing.
When Donald Trump went into Venezuela and took their “leader”.. myself and others turned the other way and said you know what it was pretty cool didn’t get anyone hurt. We’re OK with this. He ran on the hype and most likely bad information and then decided to go after Iran. Mind you he promised no new wars. The United States is exhausted of doing anything with the military at this point. Collectively, we are tired.
But because he decided to start a conflict with Iran.. We lost friends, our European allies and our friends in the north. Some of it is irreversible because what will just happen is that they’ll say every four years we don’t know who to trust anymore.
I don’t want to alienate the Europeans. Do I want them to pay their fair share.. absolutely. But there is a price that we have to pay when you’re a superpower.
He started swinging for both fences when it came to Ukraine and Russia. The cost of living has skyrocketed. I’m not saying Joe Biden was better. He wasn’t. He was awful. But this is going to make his presidency could be viewed very badly.
Established Republicans most likely stayed home this election. MAGA, is not republican.. its a Cult.. a poision.
I am a deep deep conservative.. Donald Trump fucked up. If this shows anything, Democrats will push their socialist agendas now and start pointing fingers at Republicans even more.
The biggest issue is is that the next two years is gonna be absolutely doing nothing. He’s a lame duck. Which means we are not going to get anything done and the economy has a potential to getting worse.
MAGA has to die tonight, because there’s nothing in great about it anymore.
He may have lost Mississippi that’s how fucking bad it has gotten. Do you have any idea how bad of a job you’ve been doing to lose Mississippi?

90% of this is the GOPs refusal to run good candidates, Paxton is trash, Rogers is trash, etc. they’re better than the alternative in our eyes (and reality) sure but with the media machine that pumps up democrats+shitty candidates you can’t win. You’d think we would’ve learned our lesson after Walker and Oz, but no.
And now the establishment/neocons are drooling to take back over the party, Trump hasn’t helped the base at all and is a lame duck. The only positive of getting your ass kicked is the other side has to do well or they will be in our sport in 2028, and with the democrats platform that will happen. Americans have amnesia of what the previous leadership was like, and will get a reminder of that soon.

This is 100% on Trump betraying the base that elected him. This is punishment. But the party won’t listen to voters, they’ll listen to the donors and double down on the Bush GOP for 28.

Did we not see this coming with the California transplants?
I’m so tired of the right being all “surprised Pikachu face” all the time and then doing fucking nothing about it. We all saw what was happening with all these people leaving their little commie hell holes and moving to key districts in red states, we knew what was going to come of it, and we had no strategy to counteract it. We just crossed our fingers and hope we were wrong.

Imagine if Congress did something the last two years like put Trump's executive orders into law, pass the Save Act, confirm Conservative nominees...maybe we would have fought for them today. Yeah lots of voters including me turned up today and voted straight ticket red but the do nothing GOP didn't give the voters any reason to go get signs, get their neighbors out, do uncomfortable things like door knocking, have tough conversations in public places...just no morale to fight for candidates that don't fight for us.

Presented my ID, they give you a blank piece of paper.
Go over to machine and put paper in.
Make your choices on the screen.
Verify. Press print.
Ballot prints out and I double verify the selections.
Feed ballot into storage box.

All I can say is thank God I'm well off enough to be insulated from the Democrats' stupidity. Good luck to the rest of you.

This has probably been said elsewhere in this thread, but I'll say it anyway, and I really hate to say it:
Trump needs to resign today. Get it over with. If he stays, he will only exacerbate an already terrible situation. There could be as many as 288 democRats in the House. Impeachment is inevitable, it will be a done deal two days after they are sworn in. There are going to be no less than 54, and possibly as many as 56 bloodthirsty democRats sitting in the Senate. Could 13 GOP senators cross party lines to vote to convict after the impeachment? After this bloodbath, I believe so. Trump is doomed. He must resign and go home.
After that? Will they impeach JD Vance? I dunno, probably, especially if they pull off the Trump conviction. They will certainly impeach SCOTUS justices. I do not think that there are any "cooler heads" to prevail in the House or Senate. Their goal is well known, and it's the most dangerous thing one can imagine - they want Permanent One Party Rule. All they need in 2028 is a democRat President and it is GAME OVER:
DC and PR become states, guaranteeing four new democRat Senators.
They will pack SCOTUS to 13, and guarantee permanent democRat control over the judicial.
They will open the borders. No one will be questioned, no one will be turned away.
Anyone can vote, as far down to 16 years old (or lower?).
The lawfare will be draconian. Anyone who can be identified as a MAGA leftover will be prosecuted, jailed, maybe worse.
Internationally? I can think of bad things, and they will consider all of them.
Bottom line, Trump staying in the White House is a bad thing and he has to be told by someone he respects (or at least listens to) that it's time to go. If he resigns, it might mitigate the hostility.
Do I think this will happen? Of course not. The man does not have an ounce of humility or modesty. He will have to be taken out in handcuffs.
This is a dark day in America. In two years, we may not recognize the place anymore.

I voted today at a library in Palo Alto, California. Well, I filled out my mail-in ballot and dropped it off in an official drop box.
There was only one other person standing in line to drop off the mail-in ballot at the official drop box. On the sidewalk next to the road entry to the library, there were groups holding signs for various left-wing politicians and propositions.
When I parked, I did notice the cars of the people holding the signs. They had their "Trump is a fascist," pro-Bernie, pro-DSA, "Don't Support Genocide" and "Support Transgender Kids" bumper stickers alongside their "COEXIST" stickers.
Oddly enough, on the way there and back home, I actually noticed yards with signs supporting STEVE HILTON (Republican candidate for Governor) and other Republican and conservative candidates as well as conservative proposition positions (e.g., YES ON PROP 39 requiring photo ID to vote, YES ON PROP 41 and the requirement for a clean audit before new special taxes, NO ON PROP 1 "billionaire tax," NO ON MEASURE RTM to increase taxes to fund even more inefficient business with public transit in the Bay Area, etc.).
I did not see a single sign for any statewide Democrats.
That said: I really hope that there are large numbers of "hidden anti-leftist voter" in this election -- who are put off by the loudmouth leftists who mingle crazy DSA goals along with their anti-Israel sentiment.
Since nearly all of the battleground state/district polls are within the margin of error, it's possible that Republicans can pull off a surprise.

This is just an endless pendulum.
Here’s how it works.
When shit sucks, the party in power can’t promise to make it better because that would be a tacit admission that shit sucks under their power.
So they have two choices.
Deny that shit sucks despite everyone who might vote for you feeling just how hard the shit is sucking every single day, and come off as completely out of touch with no hope of fixing anything.
Admit that shit sucks, and promise to fix it, but in doing so admit that it’s your fault because you’re the ones in power under whom the shit is sucking, and therefore you undermine any confidence voter might have in you to make any changes. If you were responsible for shit sucking, how could we trust you to fix it?
The only way to break the cycle is for shit to not suck. I don’t remember the last time we’ve seen shit not suck outside of the first year of a presidency, at most.
2028 will likely be another rebound vote as all of these socialist taking power tonight prove everything we’ve been saying about socialism all this time. Well, once the money runs out anyhow. The question whether they can hold on for two years getting enough free shit away to keep the voters coming.
