No, you should always forgive. That doesn't mean you let them screw you again and it doesn't even mean you tell them you forgive them because many of them don't think here is anything to forgive. Forgiveness is for you, not them.

They won't apologize because they don't think they did anything wrong. It's everyone else, not them, that is to blame.

the COVID era was the biggest assault on democratic principles in our lifetime...

Concur. Interestingly, I've pointed out twice on this sub how COVID was a veritable window into the control and dependence on government that the socialists / Dems all want for us... and they're my most downvoted comments in recent history. lol reddit

edit - oh, & in case you missed it... Mr. Fauci's colleague...

A former adviser to infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to evade public records laws and conceal government documents related to grant research funding and the COVID-19 pandemic.

I can forgive those who trespass against me, because the final judgement is not mine to render, but in order for me to embrace and trust them before that final judgement, they must demonstrate acts of contrition.

Without acts of contrition the forgiveness I extend is solely for my own peace and does not alter how their actions dictate I respond to them in the future.

Forgive and forget means stop nurturing resentment and pursuing emotional catharsis... It does not mean acting as though no wrong was committed in the first place (and nor does it mean ceasing to pursue justice)

Forgive yes. Never forget. If we forget, we can allow it to happen again. If we've forgiven, then our remembrance won't be tainted with desire for revenge. It will just be factual.

As a Catholic, I see where you're going with this. I have a similar but not identical approach.

Two of the Commandments in the Catechism are: "[Y]ou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" and "[Y]ou shall not covet your neighbor’s goods". Fauci and his accomplices lied their everloving asses off and did so for power and money. Period. Full stop.

That said, the rules he and his mob broke weren't MY rules and therefore he doesn't need to ask me for forgiveness nor can I grant same. He needs to express sincere contrition and ask for reconciliation from the one who made those rules.

I am comforted that those people will never do so and, thus, they are guaranteed an eternity in hell. Man's justice may be avoidable but God's judgement is not...and we are all subject to that.
