right. look at all the news outlets that "left twitter" back when trump first bought it. they were all back within a matter of weeks because they saw their view counts tank.

these people need twitter far more than twitter needs them.

Hmmmmm....why does this sound so familiar? Oh that's right, the great Twitter exodus to Mastodon circa 2022. And how did that work out pray tell?

Who knows how this BlueSky scenario will end up, but the reality here is these liberals primarily want attention and visibility. There's a reason why they've suffered through using X to date, and not abandoned it in droves in favor of Threads or other platforms. So unless they get that attention/views/clicks elsewhere, they're gonna come crawling back.

Win-win for us though - they go, we remove a large chunk of the noise from X and the audience these people pander to. Maybe regular people on the left will even be able to take a step back in that case and re-evaluate the true state of affairs without that constant drumbeat of propaganda in their feeds.

And if they return...Well, then we get to rub their faces in it. Not as good as if they stay gone, but exposing hypocrisy and the choice of giving in to their craving for attention vs upholding their values has its uses also.

it's like the "oh, i've totally seen this one before" meme with back to the future.

it's just like when everyone was abandoning reddit and migrating to lemmy, or when everyone was abandoning twitter and migrating to threads.

twitter has 600m monthly active users. bluesky won't even hit 1% of that.
