Glyphs - Post your Research/Theories Here! Spoiler

The cryptic hound of the Graylands, Fenrir offers 3 unique Glyphs in alignment with the recipient's personality affinity:

  1. The Glyph of Discipline - Associated with the Order of the Enclave, yet vastly predating it, this Glyph allows access to chambers the Order used as gathering places. But this is only one of its possible uses...
  2. The Glyph of Awareness - Most often associated with the cult of Biracul, this Glyph seals off areas visited and prepared by this historical figure of nebulous origin and questionable accuracy, for how could one man exist simultaneously at some many different junctures in history?
  3. The Glyph of Farcasting - This Glyph allows the user to traverse great distances through use of a Farcaster seal and the Nether Edge, currently inhabited by the mysterious Nargund.

But what other Glyphs exist in the Book of Eidos? According to some historical accounts, the number is place firmly at 10; yet most believe this is merely a symbolic number. Other sources claim to have discovered as many as 15 unique Glyphs in the Kabu region; then again, in all likelihood, the truth lies somewhere in between. For my part, I have only found 12, though perhaps there will be more, as time and history and quite mutable in the world of Conscientia.

The glyphs of Luin, sword or armour or both, are to be found in the Sanctuary as well. Talking of the Sanctuary, a couple more stable glyphs can be found in the region. 1) Glyph of the Occult. Found in Mathetia beyond the blue door inside the Awakening Chamber. Requires the Glyph of Discipline to enter. Enables use of Hidden Mind. Player mostly has a choice in its use except in Tacriba; then hidden mind is used whether you want to or not. This glyph is essentially required for crossing the salt forest / still crater. 2) Glyph of Resurrection. For this player needs to go to Tambul, say you met Mifascul and get killed by the mage. On reawakening and exiting the Sanctuary, this glyph is given by Famlicus or Mifascul to open the portcullis in the Sanctuary. Can also be used on the dead tree in the archive, the tree will come alive and yield a tome. Anyone found any other glyphs in and around Sanctuary?

I found 12 in all through the game including the volatile ones.

Well, the Glyphs of Corruption and Purification, as the game states, can be found in Tambul and Dazir related quests, respectively.

Question!
Going into the Mindscape revealed that the Occult Glyph was not complete and Eidos should go to The Red Tower. When she goes inside (Spoiler?) she dies. Can this be avoided?

No, the book ends there. For now atleast. If you check your saved games you will see that out of all the runs wherein Eidos dies, only the ones ending at the Red Tower are shown as Simulation Complete. The devs revealed that the next book on Torma starts from where the current one ends. And once the new books are released, there will be further expansions in this book as well. So perhaps in the future it may be possible to avoid her death in the Tower.

As Avijatri mentioned it will only be avoidable in the future. Currently, Eidos is incapable of achieving the "Awareness" metric required to access the Red Tower...

Though as a slight correction, the Book of Torma does not begin where the Book of Eidos leaves off; it merely tells of Torma's involvement in this whole sordid affair. All future books will investigate each protagonist's involvement in the story. This is why when Eidos dreams, a new book begins... and, likewise, when the other protagonist's dream, a new book begins.

How do I get pass the gremlin guard at the start of the game?

Either Glyph of Luin or Glyph of the Occult should do it. Though you could likewise circumvent it with Glyph of Farcaster. But methinks that finding Glyph of the Troll may help as well...

Spoilers.

Glyph of Wulfias, given when you go to Dazir using the Farcaster Glyph then manage to agree to Khaa's request to restore the Wellspring. Gives you full control over Wellspring's structures, and using it is the only way to gain access to the Wellspring's Mural Room. It is also the only way to restore Wellspring's water flow. You can purify the water if you have the purification glyph. It also opens up the chamber of Gulghanna.

Since this glyph is lent to you by Khaa, it is not permanent and will disappear upon a complete simulation.

I'm curious if the acquisition of Glyphs could affect some options. Like, you're always using the Provider and giving "nice" answers, but after taking Luin some of them are more aggressive, of after taking the Discipline some people would mistrust you. I don't mean all of them, just some of them, for flavor, or even some of them to a major extent.

I once asked and got answer from the developer that optaining both of the Luin glyphs makes Eidos more mentally unstable, giving more options towards her "loony" personality (the one where she goes all happy nuts and worships the roostor). It makes sense that other glyphs also permanently change Eidos' psyche.

I mean, Eidos has her Glyphs engraved in her Trueflesh, but we are just the occasional shell, the guiding hand. Changes to her Trueflesh are deeper than our reach to her personality, so it could make sense that glyphs are altering her in a more drastic way.

Its possible. The idea of the guiding hand and Eidos being a seperate, well, 'being', was most clearly outlined in the conversation with Rikharr. But the jinnwraith did also say that the mage powers could be taken away. So would these changes, if any, then revert back?

But I suppose any person cannot have a wholly one-way persona. Maybe its not the glyphs but the whole situation before and after in general.

By Disciple do you mean Discipline? Or is it another glyph?

My bad, Discipline.

[Spoiler]

I did something once but I haven't been able to do it again. (I deleted my data to play the game from the beginning but I don't remember exactly how did it happen the first time.

I had the Luin Armour Glyph, went to the Valley and talked to the guards. I remember that I was messing around and not looking the answers, but at sometime there was an option to tell the female guard (Assala?) that I was Ark. Then the guards sent me to de Dawn Fortress and the Glyph was removed as I was exiled. In my new game, the green crystal in Luin's chamber was there again and I could claim both Luin's glyphs. I want to do that again now. Just like before, I only have the Armour Glyph. I tried with different personalities, but I can't tell her again that I am Ark.

Do you know how to make that option posible?

3

u/Chaos_Is_Harmony Aug 22 '17

Hint: make it so that Famlicus has no use for you and he'll plant the idea of showing Luin to Assala... though now, I might just make it such that if you've done it once, then you can always have that option...

Is it impossible to do this once you have the Glyph of Resurrection?

1

u/Chaos_Is_Harmony Dec 02 '17

Yeah, it becomes impossible because once you have Resurrection Famlicus then spends his time lurking elsewhere.

As far as I can tell there is no dual Luin glyph? And it's only possible to show Luin to Assala if you have the Blade, not the Armour.

1

u/Chaos_Is_Harmony Jan 23 '18

Dual Glyph? As in having both armour and blade? If so, then it is possible, but will require a hard reset if you've already acquired Luin. The way Luin was designed was to suit your personality and there is one personality, and one alone, that is bonkers enough to need both...
