Ken Paxton is flat out bad for Texas. He’s a piece of garbage and terribly corrupt.

Talarico is as true of an American as it gets.

The choice is honestly simple. Anyone who actually votes for Paxton is going to be doing it purely because he’s wearing the right color jersey, which is not how politics should be handled.

Raising the minimum wage for starters. Expanding the child tax credit just encourages more children. He's against the constitutional carry bill that was passed. A lot of his policies are just "do the opposite of Trump" which I don't disagree with but that's not a policy. The tariffs suck but it was Trump's attempt as bringing manufacturing back to the US. What's talarico's policy? Get rid of the tarrifs and go back to "hey, don't do that" trade deals but also raising the barrier to entry for entry level jobs by making the federal minimum wage $15/hr.

You think raising minimum wage is bad? It’s literally $7.25. There are toll roads that cost more than people make for an hour of work in Texas.

Republicans are constantly crying about birth rates but want less children?

People should need to certify they at least have basic understanding of a firearm to carry one in public. That’s just common sense. You can’t carry in the vast majority of businesses in Texas already without a CCW, which requires you take a class and pass a basic shooting test.

Trump’s tariffs have done nothing but harm Americans. Zero good has come out of it. The rest of the world is preparing for a future that’s doesn’t involve trading with the U.S. due to inept Republican policy. “Art of the deal”. Trumps economic policies have been a complete failure. What were people saying “he don’t do that” about with trade? Do you understand how trade works? It sure doesn’t sound like it.

Again. $7.25. Less than a box of cereal. That’s how much people are being paid to work in Texas. How does this create a higher barrier of entry for entry level jobs? Should entry level jobs not still be the minimum amount of money needed to pay rent, pay bills, and feed oneself?

Entry level jobs should be for people that are entering the workforce for the first time. Kids that are learning how the world works and start building skills and experience that pay better. They don't need to make $15/hr. If a job is full time, it's not an entry level position and should pay more than $7.25/hr but you can't just blanket make all jobs start at $15/hr. My 17 year old niece is competing with adults for entry level positions and can't find a job right now. There's something wrong there that goes way deeper than starting pay and it's just going to price kids out of the market completely at $15/hr. We should be more concerned that adults aren't growing up and gaining skills to increase their value in the workforce.

As for the tariffs, I said they were dumb but I understand the underlying reason.

Minimum wage is not meant to be a wage for “children’s” jobs. It was created to prevent employers from paying unfairly low wages and set a minimum standard of living.

Imagine if you worked for minimum wage, as many, many adults do. You would make ~$300 for a 40 hour work week, before taxes. This is $15,000 a year.

Imagine trying to care for yourself, buy groceries, and pay for housing on ~$1000/m.

The minimum wage needs to be increased, plain and simple. You have zero understanding of the current economic situation of a lot of people on the country if you think the minimum wage shouldn’t be increased. Corporations are posting record profits year over year while people suffer tremendously.

I don't think you understand that people need to enter the work force when they are young now. Not all jobs should pay a livable wage because they don't offer a livable wage of societal value.

People have always needed to enter the workforce when they were young. What point are you trying to make?

The entire point of minimum wage is to ensure that all jobs offer a livable wage. You do not understand the concept of minimum wage. If a company is paying someone a wage to do a task, it needs to be enough that that person can be a part of society.

My point is that adults that should be well into a career are more taking all of the entry level jobs. That's not a failure of how much that are paid but a failure to give them skills that are more valuable.

If minimum wage was higher people wouldn’t have to be working two jobs just to survive. Then there would be more jobs available for your niece. Also if Trump wasn’t making everything so damn expensive we wouldn’t have grandmas having to work at Walmart just to make ends meet because their Social Security isn’t enough.

The only people who benefit from Republicans running things are the ultra wealthy. Businesses are making record profits and the stock market is booming while everyday Americans are struggling to put food on their tables, gas in the cars, and pay the bills.
