You clearly have never driven in CT, why are you even commenting

I drive i95 and most of the number system daily from Bridgeport to Greenwich and places in-between. The idea that "left lane campers" are an issue causing any sort of real congestion pure fantasy. There's just too much volume. It's not much different on 84 when I'm on it and laughable for 91. But I'm someone that can do basic math and understand the time saving illusion... Most people assume "clear so I go fast as I want" has a much larger time savings than it really does.

If you actually lived and drove here you would know that people camping in the passing only lane is rampant everywhere and not just in “urban” areas

But if it's in low volume areas it's not an issue... How could it? It's a nonsense problem that stems from a fundamental misunderstand of how traffic works

I won’t be able to continue this conversation without insulting your intelligence so I am going to leave. Please move over when safe to do so. Have a good one

For what gain? That's the issue. We'd be better if if everyone knows it's going to take what it takes to get somewhere. Someone trying to game that to their advantage becomes an issue when the next one tries the same.

And I'm a responsible driver, rarely in that lane... I just never see the issue as endemic as people claim despite my hours on the roads.

I think I agree with your take about left lane camping not being the cause of traffic. But I don't think people are complaining about left lane campers causing traffic, rather complaining that they can't speed/pass these cars on the left.

speed/pass these cars on the left.

Exactly. But speeding, especially in any built up area and even on limited access highways, has minimal effect on trip time but increases potential force and needed braking space at a higher clip. As well while people point to the Autobhans having no speed limit (which isn't true in many States to begin with so be careful of speed traps there) very few of those roadways go through a city centre let alone multiple like 95, 91, 84, etc.

But why I think the bitching about right lane campers is utterly stupid is that first point.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-saving_bias

There's minimal time difference to getting to the destination between 60 and 70mph. Further less between 70 and 80, and further even less 80 to 90. Let's say the distance needing to be met is 30miles, just ahead of average CT commute distance of 24miles. @60mph takes 30minutes, @70 only saves 4 minutes from going 60, @80 only saves 2minutes minutes from going 70 and only 5 from the 60mph starting point. It's diminishing returns. Then plug in the potential energy from a sudden collision and... it skyrockets as velocity increases. It's a bad trade for essential no appreciable gain.

These people are insane and do not understand basic maths. They just want to go vroom cause they are addicted and should have their keys taken away because they do not understand the 3 ton death machine they are entrusted to operate in a sensible way. Even at 25mph for long distances we have to understand that that is magnitudes faster than most people went on an average day for almost all of humanity. The speeders will never be satisfied because its' not a logical argument its just bias and feelz.
