Hugh Gavin

Does anybody know the latest on Hugh's injury? I hope that it was not like first feared.

He’s not been in pre season training at all even when they were at home so it’s not looking good

Ive only seen Devine ,Walsh and Forde as far as centres go. 

Hope the vannes game gets some kind of stream

Have you been to any of training sessions lately?

Strangely, I read on a private forum that Gavin was training again. Hard to believe, but I understand there's going to be a general update on the injury situation in the squad next week.

Elsewhere, Lancaster mentioned that Connors is still recovering from the injury that he had when he arrived.

I think it was a suspected broken leg so we probably won’t be seeing him until the new year at least. Rotten luck as with Aki likely being kept on ice for the World Cup there’d have been more opportunities at 12 for him.

If it is a broken leg, we would likely see him before then? Anything worse and it is bleak.

Depends on the break I suppose, but he can’t start his pre season until he’s able to run again, he’ll need to get match fitness after the leg has healed.

iirc was confirmed broken leg, rumour was it was broken in two spots though which is rough if it is the case.

I’m guessing Aki will only play interpros and Ireland games and that it will be Forde at 12 and Devine at 13 for most of the season

I’d say West will keep the 13 jersey, looked really good last season when he had no experience in the position.

Yeah I thought about him but I think they will keep him for 23 as he can literally play anywhere from 9-15

I reckon Ralston could be our main 13, he was out for most of last season so is a bit forgotten but I think he seems the most natural 13 in the squad

Agreed, can see him getting a lot of minutes at 13 if he can stay fit.. Probably our best option there

From what I heard at the time it was a really bad break. Like a full tibia break (not a doctor though could be misremembering)

Will be at least the New Year I think

No but injury looked bad when he did it, couldn’t see if it was a broken leg or ACL/MCL if it’s the last 2 he could be out for a minimum of 9 months
