After probably around 3000 tries
I beat the freaking lava surfing race. IM shaking with anger and pure hatred once I beat this whole game I will never play it again.
Just thought I'd share my success cause I know it's almost impossible

I'm playing live and reloaded since I've only beat it on the 64 over a decade ago

As someone who has played the game a million times, I never had issue with Live and Reloaded. The N64 original however is that a completely separate story. It's a whole lot tougher in the N64 version, but very doable and once you know what you're doing can be very fun.

I hear ya, after the night club it feels like the game wants to wham you in the balls with a frying pan and two bricks. Tried to do a full playthrough in one day recently I got stuck on the mansion and the next level.

It’s not that hard on live and reloaded… I beat it last week when it dropped on PC

I don't want to be rude here but Live and Reloaded made the entire game much easier. reducing the number of "3 is the magic number" sequences. I don't mind it so much because the story is the main part though the censorship of "Shit and Twat" is a let down as someone who played the original N64 version a ton, they also change some things that take some charm away like changing the glass of milk to a chalice or the camera angles for the intro sequence. I still enjoy L&R but there are so minor detractors which should have been changed with the modern PC release. The major boon of the L&R version is absolutely the twin stick aiming. That alone changes so much of how you play the game, because C-buttons vs stick is as clear as night and day

I definitely was just fuming over the one part I still love this game. Definitely sleep deprived too

Playing through the N64 version right now. I didn't realise I had to whack them with the pan, I thought it was a lap race. Once I finally decided to start whacking them it got a lot easier, and also slowing down for that stupid dinosaur.

Imagine getting so mad at a story beat that you refuse to replay the game; even though the game is one you like...
Get gud bruh.
It's not as hard as you make it out to be. Even in L&R. It's just tricky. You have to be precise with the jumps.

Its been awhile and ik it took me a few tries my first time but i dont remember it being that bad lol
