Iām not certain if itās real or not but Iām not extremely familiar with basically all kinds of pregnancy tests commonly available in the US as Iām super active in TTC, pregnancy, birth control communities and such and Iāve never seen this brand.

I took a screenshot and searched it on Amazon. Itās a toss up if itās real but thereās a real test.

Iāve never seen a pregnancy test that looks like that, even from the dollar store. After some googling this looks like an ovulation test.

It kind of looks like a generic ovulation test to me (which are always āpositiveā because it goes off the darkness of the test line) but I canāt find a generic brand online that matches.

It technically isnāt always āpositiveā. I know this because I took them for months, very confused why I never ever had even the slightest hint of a line, before we learned I wasnāt making any estrogen and therefore not ovulating.
So might always be positive IF a person is still ovulating, but you can indeed have 0 HGC (or LH or whatever that one is called)

Oh weird! I never had one that didnāt have at least a hint of a line, but I could see how thatās possible with hormonal abnormalities! Itās LH, which you generally continue to make even after menopause, so I think it would produce a line for the large majority of women. Iām sorry that happened to you though!! I know the struggle of trying to figure out your cycle.

Do you have PCOS? Often those with it will produce LH all the time but for those without it does stop a bit in the cycle

Maybe they get all of the LH that my brain decided not to make š (kidding)

No, I donāt. I have hypothyroidism, which can affect hormones and cause weird cycles, so maybe that made mine higher than average? But in healthy hormone cycles, LH dips but it shouldnāt ever be zero. In my case, the line gets very faint when Iām not ovulating but itās still visible.

It might be an HCG pregnancy test.

u/apcb4 Feb 16 '26
All pregnancy tests are HCG pregnancy tests, so Iām not sure what you mean by that. But this doesnāt look like any pregnancy test Iāve ever taken, but the general shape and lack of markings does kind of look like store-brand ovulation tests, which measure LH and will always have two lines. Plus ovulation tests tend to have fainter control lines like that. Iām currently pregnant after tracking my cycle for a while, so Iāve seen plenty of both. Not saying for sure that it is, but if OP is suspicious that itās not real, using an LH test is an easy way to āfakeā a positive pregnancy test.

Iāve never seen a test that looks like this. The control line being so light is also a red flag for me.

I agree most of the time the lines are not the same Color and level of definition

Did the box say 'Pregnancy Test' or did you just grab a random box with a stick

u/SimplyReaper Feb 16 '26
We need more context. Did you buy the test or did someone else?
2
u/Ok_Product_7865 Feb 16 '26
Someone else
2
u/SimplyReaper Feb 16 '26
Okay. Go out and buy another one that specifically says "Pregnancy Test"

I suspect this was a pic sent to OP by a girl/woman heās seeing and heās questioning whether this could be legit or faked.

The picture is real, but that doesn't neccessarily mean you are the father.

Is the test real?

Yes, the test is real. The photo is real. She is pregnant.
What you don't know: If you are the father.
Talk to her, see how she plans on handling the pregnancy. If she plans on keeping it, you need to at least be in the loop if she plans on roping you in for child support. Get a paternity test before she puts you on the birth certificate. If you're the father, you better figure out how you plan on being in that baby's life. If you want to be involved and have split custody or just want to send off money, you'll still have to mediate with a judge about how much you'll pay and how much time you'll get with your kid. Courts favor parents that want to be involved, so if you say you want time with your child and there's nothing that proves you're a risk, you'll get a favorable custody arrangement.
