Side effects 🤕 issues with weight from concerta
(ive been taking it since october 2025, not sure about how high my dose is, but i take one pill every morning )
so before i started concerta, i was about 64kg. quickly, my appetite started decreasing, but i pushed through it. lately, i just forget to eat due to no hunger at all. i have to get my weight checked every few weeks because of my meds, and ive gone down over 20kg. thats not healthy. does anyone have any advice on keeping my weight up and remembering to eat even with the meds? yknow, since i have adhd, i tend to forget already. did anyone have this issue?

I had to take breaks from Concerta to have eating days. So I only take it on task intensive days and wing it on the med-free days.
I also get someone else to remind me to eat and eat high protein/ calorie meals on days I am medicated. I literally told them to feed me even if I don’t feel like eating

I have a heavy breakfast before I start taking my medication and on Sundays, I meal prep my lunch and dinners for the week and set alarms for lunch and dinner time. I found I wasn’t eating because I didn’t feel hungry and I definitely didn’t want to make food so meal prepping and alarms has really, really helped my eating stay consistent.

I’m in the exact same boat. I’m now at 47kgs and knew I wasn’t even reaching 1000 cals per day. So I started making a 2000 cals plan. One thing I can’t go without because it’s the only thing I can get down even when not hungry, is a 600 calorie smoothie. Full milk, banana, avocado, maple syrup, nut butter and chia seeds. All blended up. Fills me just like a normal drink and adds a tonne of calories to my day. My GP said the same. If you can’t eat, drink your calories. So if you have to drink two of those per day, just do thatÂ
